Terracon Proposal No. P95140346 (Revised)
Dear Mr. Meza:
Terracon Consultants, Inc. (Terracon) appreciates the opportunity to submit this proposal to
provide geotechnical engineering services for the referenced project. The purpose of this study
will be to evaluate the pertinent geotechnical conditions at the site and to develop design
parameters that will assist in the design and construction of the planned building. This proposal
outlines our understanding of the project, the scope of services, and provides a lump sum fee for
our services.

GEOTECHNICAL SCOPE OF SERVICES
Field Program — Based on the project layout and planned construction, we recommend the
following boring program.
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Two borings are planned for this site. Two borings will be advanced 10 feet
Borings into bedrock, up to a maximum depth of about 45 feet in the planned building
area.
Continuous to 10 feet then at 5 foot intervals with tube samplers in clay and
Soil sampling split-barrel samplers in sand. The strength of bedrock, if encountered, will be
evaluated in-place by performance of the Texas Department of Transportation
(TxDOT) cone penetration test.
Groundwater Water level observations will be made during and upon completion of drilling.
Borehole backfilling Boreholes will be backfilled with soil cuttings.
Sample disposal Samples will be discarded 30 days following report submittal.
Conditions- Items to be provided by the client include the right of entry to conduct the exploration
and an awareness and/or location of any private subsurface utilities existing in the area. We will
contact TEXAS811, the local "one call' service for location of utilities in public easements.
Location of private lines on the property is not part of the Texas811, the local "one call' service,
or Terracon scope.
Terracon will take reasonable efforts to reduce damage to the property, such as rutting of the
ground surface. However, it should also be understood that in the normal course of our work
such disturbance could occur. We have not budgeted to restore the site beyond backfilling our
boreholes with soil cuttings. If there are any restrictions or special requirements regarding this
site or exploration, these should be known prior to commencing field work.
Our fee is based on the site being accessible to our truck-mounted drilling equipment and
Terracon providing layout of the borings. Additional costs may result if this is not the case. It
does not include services associated with site clearing, wet ground conditions, tree or shrub
clearing, or damage of existing landscape. If such conditions are known to exist on the site,
Terracon should be notified so that we may adjust our scope of services and fee, if necessary.

Proposal for Geotechnical Enginering Services
FWPD Aviation Administration Building Fort Worth,Texas IrLirracon
May 28, 2014 v Terracon Proposal No. P95140346 (Revised)
For safety purposes, the borings will be backfilled immediately after completion. Excess auger
cuttings would be disposed of on the site. Because backfill material often settles below the
surface after a period of time, we recommend the boreholes be checked periodically and
backfilled if necessary. We could provide this service at your request or grout the holes, but this
would involve additional cost.
Laboratory Testing - The samples will be tested in our laboratory to determine physical
engineering characteristics. Testing will be performed under the direction of a geotechnical
engineer and may include visual classification, moisture content, liquid and plastic limits,
calibrated hand penetrometer tests.
Engineering Analysis and Report - The results of our field and laboratory programs will be used
in preparing a geotechnical engineering report for the project. Three bound copies and one PDF
copy of the report will be submitted. The report will include the following:
Plan of borings, boring logs, groundwater observations, and laboratory test results.
Description of soil and rock conditions.
Appropriate foundation types, depths, and alternatives.
Seismic site class, per Table 1613.5.2 of the 2009 IBC.
Schedule -We can begin the field exploration program within about one week after receipt of our
signed Agreement for Services. One day will be required to complete the borings, if site and
weather conditions permit. We estimate the final geotechnical report can be completed within
about two weeks after the soil borings are completed. Preliminary information will be available
throughout the project.
3.0 COMPENSATION
For the scope of geotechnical services outlined in this proposal that includes drilling borings,
laboratory testing and an engineering report, the lump sum fee is $3,200.00. Unless instructed
otherwise, the invoice will be sent to your attention at the above address.
The fee assumes the borings are accessible to truck-mounted equipment during normal business
hours, Monday through Friday. The fee includes locating the borings from existing streets and
structures by taping and approximating right angles, and utilizing a hand-held GPS unit. It does
not include surveying services.
i
Additional services will be charged in accordance with our current fee schedule. If we are
authorized to proceed and the client subsequently postpones or cancels the work, we will invoice
the client for the costs of project set up and mobilization incurred prior to notice of cancellation.
