HomeMy WebLinkAboutContract 30851-01 RENEWAL OF CITY SECRETARY CONTRACT NUMBER 30851 INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH FORT WORTH INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF TARRANT WHEREAS, on November 2, 2004, the City of Fort Worth, by and through its Assistant City Manager, entered in to a lease agreement with the Fort Worth Independent School District,the same being City Secretary Contract Number 30851; and WHEREAS, said Agreement provided that the City of Fort Worth would provide academic and cultural enrichment programs for students and family members; and WHEREAS, the primary Agreement term was from September 1, 2004 through August 31, 2005; and WHEREAS, the primary Agreement may be renewed for four (4) additional one- year terms by mutual consent of both parties; and WHEREAS, the Fort Worth Independent School District has given notice of its desire to renew and extend said Agreement for one (1) additional one-year term under the same terms and conditions; NOW, THEREFORE, City and the Fort Worth Independent School District agree to renew and extend the Agreement as follows: 1. Section 3, "TERM", is hereby amended to read as follows: The fourth renewal term of this Agreement shall for a term of one (1) year, beginning on the 1" day of September 2008 and terminating on the 31" day of August 2009. 2. Section 2, "FUNDING", paragraph A is hereby amended as an addition to read as follows: FWISD agrees to pay the CITY for the 4`h renewal term year Thirty Five Thousand Three Hundred Dollars and 00/100 ($35,300.00) to fund the operation of the Community Learning Center Program at Rosemont Middle School and Thirty Five Thousand Four Hundred Seventy and 00/100 ($35,470.00) to fund the operation of the Comrnpnity ,Learning ,e( ,QW r i Program at Daggett Middle School, FWISD and the CITY agree that these amounts fairly compensate the CITY for the operation of the Community Le, in Center Programs at each school., 3. All other terms and provisions oft e original Agreernent between the City and the Fort Worth Independent School District shall remain in full force and effect except as specifically amended herein. Authorize the City Manager to enter into a renewal agreement for after school services at Rosemont Middle School and Daggett Middle School for the period of September 1, 2008, through August 31, 2009; and 2. Adopt appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the Grants Fund in the amount of$70,770.00. DISCUSSION-: On September 21, 2004, (M&C C-20287) City Council approved an Interlocal Agreement with Fort Worth independent School District (FWISD) to provide academic enrichment programs and other activities designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic schedule of participating students, and to provide opportunities for literacy and related educational development to families of those students.. These programs are held at Rosemont and Daggett Middle Schools. The program is funded by a grant to FWISD from the Texas Education Agency. The City will be reimbursed from the grant funds based on actual expenditures, not budgeted amounts. The agreement provides for one basic year and four renewal options. The program was successful in the first year and the three renewal years of operation. FWISD has requested that the it exercise the fourth and final option period of the contract, which will operate from September 1, 2008, through August 31, 2009. Funds will be appropriated in the Grants Fund during the Annual Budget. This program is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 9. FISCAL INFORMATIONXERTIFICATION: ........ ...........— The Finance Director certifies that upon approval of the above recommendation, receipt of the executed options agreement, and adoption of the attached appropriation ordinance, funds will be available in the current operating budget, as appropriated in the Grants Fund. Funds will be reimbursed by grantor after expenditures are made. The Parks and Community Services Department is responsible for the collection of funds due to the City under this agreement.
