CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS
OF THE SPECIAL RUN-OFF ELECTION HELD ON JUNE 21,
2014, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A COUNCIL MEMBER
FOR CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT 9 TO SERVE THE REMAINDER
OF AN UNEXPIRED TERM
WHEREAS, on February 18, 2014, the City Council of the City of Fort Worth adopted

Ordinance No. 21129-02-2014 calling for and ordering a special election to be held on May 10, 2014, at
which special election all qualified voters of City Council District 9 would have the opportunity to vote
for the purpose of electing a Council Member for City Council District 9 to serve the remainder of an
unexpired term; and
WHEREAS, on May 10, 2014, a special election was held at which all qualified voters of City
Council District 9 had the opportunity to vote for the purpose of electing a Council Member for City
Council District 9 to serve the remainder of an unexpired term; and ;

WHEREAS, no candidate received a majority of the votes cast, necessitating a run-off; and i
WHEREAS, on June 21, 2014, a special run-off election was held at which all qualified voters
of City Council District 9 had the opportunity to vote for the purpose of electing a Council Member for
City Council District 9 to serve the remainder of an unexpired term; and I

WHEREAS,pursuant to Chapter 67 of the Texas Election Code, the City Council of the City of
Fort Worth is required to canvass the returns and declare the results of the election.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT WORTH,TEXAS THAT:

SECTION 1. The declarations and findings contained in the preamble of this Resolution are
hereby found to be true and correct and shall be made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. The City Council hereby finds and declares that the said special run-off election
for City Council District 9 was held on June 21, 2014, at which election all qualified voters of City
Council District 9 were given the opportunity to vote for the purpose of electing a Council Member for
City Council District 9 to serve the remainder of an unexpired term.

SECTION 3. The City Council further finds and declares that the returns for such election are
as follows:

Ann Zadeh 1,633
SECTION 4. The City Council further finds and declares that such returns are correct, and
adopts them as the returns,of the election held on June 21, 2014, together with the tabulation of the total
number of votes received in each precinct.
SECTION 5. The City Council further finds that Ann Zadeh received a majority of the total
number of votes received by the two candidates for the office of Council Member for City Council i
District 9 and that Ann Zadeh is declared elected as Council Member for City Council District 9 to serve
the remainder of an unexpired term.

SECTION 6. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting of the Fort Worth !'
City Council at which this Resolution was adopted was open to the public, and that public notice of the
time,place and purpose of said meeting was given, as required by Chapter 551 of the Texas Government
Code.

SECTION 7. This Resolution shall take effect on ad 'on this :-3V�ay June, 2014.
