HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014/07/22-Minutes-City Council-Executive Session CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING CLOSED EXECUTIVE SESSION JULY 22, 2014 After proper notice given pursuant to the Texas Open Meetings Act, Mayor Pro tem Zimmerman adjourned the Council meeting of the Fort Worth City Council at 4:17 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, to convene into the Special City Council Meeting for the closed Executive Session in the Pre-Council Chamber of the Fort Worth Municipal Building. Present: Mayor Pro tem W.B. "Zim"Zimmerman, District 3 Council Member Salvador Espino, District 2 Council Member Daniel Scarth, District 4 Council Member Gyna Bivens, District 5 (arrived at 4:20 pm) Council Member Jungus Jordan, District 6 Council Member Dennis Shingleton, District 7 Council Member Kelly Allen Gray, District 8 Council Member Ann Zadeh, District 9 Absent: Mayor Betsy Price Staff Present: David Cooke, City Manager Sarah Fullenwider, City Attorney Mary J. Kayser, City Secretary Fernando Costa, Assistant City Manager Susan Alanis, Assistant City Manager Charles Daniels, Assistant City Manager Gerald Pruitt, Deputy City Attorney Peter Vaky, Deputy City Attorney Jeff Hallstead, Police Chief Maleshia Farmer, Sr. Assistant City Attorney Laetitia Brown, Sr. Assistant City Attorney Melinda Ramos, Sr. Assistant City Attorney Aaron Bovos, Chief Financial Officer Sophia Canady, Sr. Risk Management Analyst 1= With a quorum of the City Council Members present, the Fort Worth City Council convened into closed Executive Session at 4:18 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, in the Pre-Council Chamber of the Fort Worth Municipal Building to discuss matters pertaining to the following: i 1. Seek the advice of its attorneys concerning the following pending or contemplated litigation or other matters that are exempt from public disclosure under Article X, Section 9 of the Texas State Bar Rules and as authorized by Section 551.071 of the Texas Government Code: i 1 CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING JULY 22, 2014 PAGE 2 of 2 a. Nelda Davis v. The City of Fort Worth, et al., Cause No. 4:14-cv-00491-A, United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Fort Worth Division; and b. Legal issues concerning any item listed on today's City Council meeting agendas; 2. Deliberate the purchase, sale, lease or value of real property in accordance with Section 551.072 of the Texas Government Code. Deliberation in an open meeting would have a detrimental effect on the position of the City in negotiations with a third party; and 3. Deliberate concerning economic development negotiations as authorized by Section 551.087 of the Texas Government Code; and 4. Deliberate the deployment, or specific occasions for implementation, of security personnel or devices, in accordance with Section 551.076 of the Texas Government Code; and There was no formal action taken by the City Council on the items discussed during the Executive Session and with no further business to be conducted, Mayor Pro tem Zimmerman adjourned the meeting at 4:26 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2014.
