DISCUSSION:
On May 15, 2012, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 4089-05-2012 authorizing the City Manager to
enter into a Community Partner Agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy for its Better Buildings j
Challenge (BBC) program. The Agreement encourages local entities to join the City in making Fort Worth
municipal, commercial, and industrial buildings at least 20-percent more efficient by the year 2020. This
effort is managed by the Transportation and Public Works Department (T/PW) as part of its Resource
Conservation Program, and the funds used to support this program come from utility incentives. Mayor
and Council Communication (M&C G-17733), approved on November 12, 2012, provided funding for the
BBC Program for Fiscal Year 2013, and this Mayor and Council Communication will transfer funding for
Fiscal Year 2014 program costs. Funding has already been received from Oncor Electric Delivery utility
incentives, and these funds were deposited as revenue into the Special Trust Fund (FE72) to support
resource conservation programming.
