Re: Request for Amendment No. 2
Water and Sanitary Sewer Replacement -Throckmorton St. and 14`h St.
Project No. 00136
Dear Mr. Chaubey:
The original scope of work for this project included topographic and subsurface
utility surveys along Throckmorton St. from 14`h St. to 11`h St., along 11`h St. from
Throckmorton St. to Houston St., and along 14`h St. from Throckmorton St. to Houston
St.
Parsons submitted a Conceptual Design Report to the City of Fort Worth on April
8, 2005. This report included five alternate alignments for relocation of the gravity
sanitary sewer. Three of the alternatives were eliminated during the Conceptual Design
review meeting on May 6, 2005. Alternative 4 provided for a portion of the line to be
routed along the new 12`h St. from Throckmorton St. to Houston St. and north along
Houston St. to tie into an existing manhole at the intersection of 11`h St. and Houston St.
Parsons did not provide survey information for this alignment because construction in the
new 12`h St. and Houston St. was not in the original scope of work. Parsons was asked to
do additional due diligence work to locate other subsurface utilities along this alignment.
Parsons completed the additional due diligence work and submitted a revised
Conceptual Design Report on June 7, 2005 which showed the subsurface utilities based
on the best information available from the utility companies. Parsons strongly
recommends that a topographic and subsurface utility survey be completed along the new
12`h St. from Throckmorton St. to Houston St., along 13`h St. from Throckmorton St. to
Houston St., and along Houston St. from 11`h St. to 13`h St. to make certain that all of the
subsurface utilities have been correctly located in the project area so that there are no
delays during the construction phase of the project because of unknown utility
interferences.
The cost for the additional topographic and subsurface utility survey is
$10,132.98 which includes a 10% mark-up allowed by our contract. A breakdown of the
costs is attached. Therefore, we request an amendment in this amount to cover the costs _
of the additional survey work.
Original Contract Amount $ 81,319.98
Amendment No. 1 $ 3,205.00
Amendment No. 2 $ 10,132.98
Total Contract Amount $ 94,657.96
