The City Manager asked RODGER - have B&R staff if Council members would be interested in making prepare tentative a tour of CIP projects in the near future, schedule for tour possibly after the conclusion of a regular in September. Council meeting. Consensus was that such a tour would be desirable, but not until after the AMA meeting in Houston, possibly on a date in September. 2. Status of Request - Parking Under Freeway. KD - prepare IR transmitting Councilman Barr requested information on the letter status of the request to the State Highway Depart- ment concerning parking under the freeway in the vicinity of the Post Offices. 'Phe City Manager reported that a letter had been received from the Highway Department acknowledging the City's request, and stating that a study of the matter would be made. Councilman Barr requested that copies of the letter be furnished to the Council in this weeks package of business. - 3. Complaint on Construction of Trail Lake KD - memo to Thelin regarding Drive. Councilman Barr reported that he had additional clause received a complaint from a service station operator on Trail Lake Drive concerning the contractor tearing up the street, and then leaving the project without completion of the street. The City Manager stated that he would look into this complaint, and the possibility of an additional contract clause requiring continuous work on such projects. 4. Mayor's Appearance as Witness - CAB Hearing. NAN The Mayor reported that he had been informed that lie would be called as a witness in the CAB Hearings, and that he would like a consensus of opinion from the Council regarding their feelings toward the creation of an airport authority to administer the joint regional airport if such is created. The JLB - referred to Hardy City Manager reported that his survey of water Pre-Council Conference AM July 22, 1963 I t e m Follow-Up needs was felt to be of highest priority, and that the possible benefits would be more than the cost of such a survey. It was pointed out that the payment for such a study would be financed from water revenues, and no tax funds would be involved. Councilman Hamm read a statement indi- cating his opposition to the study unless a population boom in a particularly area of the City necessitated such a study or a bond issue for water improvements was planned. Council did not approve a motion to postpone the matter for 90-120 days at regular meeting, and requested that the item be placed on next week's agenda and additional information be submitted con- cerning future sale of water improvement bonds. 6. Fee for Reprinting Economic Base Study KD - follow-up (M&C G-513) . Councilman Hamm also stated his opposition to reprinting this study for sale by the City, and suggested that 1 or 2 copies be placed in the Library for use by those requesting the study. After discussion, the City Manager indicated that this matter could be delayed, and information prepared concerning the estimated cost of printing 200-300 copies and the number of copies which could be sold immediately. The M&C was delayed for one week at the regular meeting. 7. Downtown Street Resurfacing (M&C C-115). KD - notify Thelin of cut Council discussed the project for resurfacing mentioned. of various streets in the downtown area, with Councilman Jones requesting information concerting deletions and additions of various streets to the project. Councilman Hamm reported that much of the failure to these particular streets had resulted from improperly repaired street cuts, and specifically mentioned a Telephone Company cut now being repaired on 4th Street.
