Rogers Buildings . Mr. Johnson stated that the ice-making, equipment at the Culiseum was in bad shape due to leaks , and that the previous Council had agreed to snake neces- sary repair,: , but that no money had been set up by the City to do this work. He stv-,�,ested several alternatives which included : 1) To ;u hack to the contract on ice skating• which c- -isted prior to the present contract negoti- ated in Feb. 1963, or 21 Cancel the required days for ice skating under tho present contract, or 3) The City repair the ice-makinf; equipment, or 4) 111-pair the ice-making equipment and ex- tend the contract for a longer period of time. Councilman Kemble inquired if Mr. Johnson would he interested in cancelling; Doth th4 con- cession and ice st_atinp, contracts , and the City taking, bids for these contract: . Mr. Johnson in- dicated that he would not be in favor of cancell- ing both contracts. Councilman llanyn reported that lie felt the repair:. to the ice-utai.ing equipment were implied in the contract altl ou-,h a specific provision that the City would make the repairs was not part of the contract, and suggested that the Council go to the iijnicipal Buildings West in order to review the condition of the buildings and this equipment. Councilman Hamm also indicated that it was quite possible that the tie rods under EOFFICIAL the slab in the Coliseum foundation had deteri-orated due to the leak of the brine from the RETARY ice-makin,, equipment.In response to a question, the City Manager 3,reported that repair of the ice-mahint; equipment E, was not included in the ice skatinf; contract on February 11, 1963, and that Mr. Johnson was awart• that this item was specifically omitted from the contract, as evidenced by a letter from Mr. Johnson on Feb. 8 7 191,3, requc::ting that the repairs be in- cluded in the contract. The City Manager further reported that the previous. Council in October of 1062 oad voted to make repairs to the ice-makiny- equipment, but that no commitment had been made at the time the ice-skatin;, contract was approved by the City Council on February 11, 1963. No consensus of Council was reached. however, Councilman Jones requested a report from the staff concernin}; the statits of the repairs necessary to the ice-making; equipment and the condition of the foundation and tic: rods at the i-lunicipal Buildings West. 2. Odor Control - Riverside Sewage 'Treatment E:IE -- bogh agendas 4I2C1;'64 Plant (M&C C-276) Councilman Hoover inquired if the proposed cost to the City by switching; to the 'Tunzi.matic" material for control of odors at the Riverside Sewage Treat- ment Plant would be greater than the cost using; the Super Biu chemical product. The City Manager reported that the cos=t for the Funzimatic product would be ap- pro:cimately $24 ,U(,0 per year as compared to an annual cost o! $6,000 per year for use of Super Ilio. ihiring; the discu:;sion it was indicated that some relatively minor overhead cost to the City from hauling, etc. , %could be eliminated by discontinuance of Super Bio. At regular Council weetinf;, Council delayed action on M&C C-276. 3. ::ale of Motorcycles (M&C TE-358) 41At1 Councilman Kemble inquired if the hi;;h bid for purchase t:)i the motorcycles was un an all or none Basi:; , or whether some individual bids could be ac- cepted and the balance of the motorcycles sold to the lump sum high bidder. 77ie City Manager reported that the high lump sum bidder, American Machinery Equipment Co. , had specified in its bid that the bid was on an all or none basis. Council awarded the bid for sale of the motor- cycles to American Machinery And Equipment Company at regular Council meeting;. 4. Proposed Extension of West Berry :street NAN (M&C G-623) The City Manager inquired if any Council Men- bers had questions regarding the proposed plan for EOFFICIALECORDthe e::tension c7f West Berry Street adjacent to theT.C.U. campus annex. Councilman Hoover sug;}vested E3ARYthat the possibility of locatin}, a fire station on this property not lie ruled out. TEX. Council approved the tentative plan for the proposed extension of West Berry Street at regular Council meeting. ` a• i 5.
