1. Amendment of Waste Disposal Ordinance (M&C G-641)
Councilman Haimn requested that this proposed
amendment to the Waste Disposal Ordinance be delayed
for one week in order that he could talk with the
Manager regarding the proposed rates for industrial
concerns. Councilman Hamm reported that he had re-
ceived a letter from the City Packing Co. stating that
their charges for disposal would be increased approxi-
mately $1500 per year as a result of the new Waste
Disposal Ordinance amendment.
The City Manager reported that the proposed amend-
ment to the Waste Disposal Ordinance presented for
Council consideration at the regular meeting would not
affect the City Packing Co. unless they used special
containers.
Consensus of Council was to go ahead with the
proposed amendment to the ordinance, and this action
was taken at regular meeting.
2. Award of Contract - Assessment Paving at 15 KD memo to Thelin re leletion
Locations in Arlington Hts (M&C C-288) of Unit 12
The City Manager reported that this contract pro-
vided for the assessment paving of several streets in
the Arlington Hts and Como area, and asked if any
Council members had questions concerning the units in-
cluded . Councilman Jones inquired as to the proposed
assessment paving of the alley between Hulen and
Western Street, Unit 12, and asked if this was not an
unusual situation since the alley was being paved on
the assessment basis . The Public Works Director re-
ported that a request had been received from the owner
of adjacent apartments that this alley be paved, and
that since the alley was in bad condition it had been
included in an assessment paving project. The Public
Works Director reported that the City did only grading r RECORD�+ �n
work to improve alleys , and that several alleys had GF9'IL�i L RECORD
been improved on an assessment paving basis .
The City Manager also reported that the assessment CITY SECRETARY
paving of alleys was on a request basis only, and that

Consensus of Council was to delete this from the
award of contract, and this action was taken at regular
Council meeting.

3. Proposed Improvement of Cooper Street from KD - ask Thelin to call Hospital
Lake to Fifth Avenue (MSC C-286) regarding, payment of engineering,,
fee.
Councilman Harron referred to the proposed bond
fund transfer of $270 to provide funds for the City's
engineering and inspection costs in connection with
this project, and stated that he had understood that
the Harris Hoapital would bear the entire cost of
these street improvements .
The City Manager reported that there was no
specific mention made regarding payment of the en-
gineering fees for this project at the time the portion
of W. Cannon Street was closed, but that the M&C could
be held up and the Hospital would be requested to pay
the $270.
Council delayed approval of this M&C at regular
Council meeting.
4. Purchase of Filter Surface Washing Equipment NAN
(M&C C-287)
The Water Dept Director was present to discuss
the proposed purchase of surface washing, equipment in
connection with the N. Holly Plant filters , and re-
ported that this was a device to provide better wash-
ing of the sand in connection with the filtering
process .
Consensus of Council was to approve the proposed
purchase, and this action was taken at regular Council

The Mayor referred to the continuation of these
special zoning cases, and requested that the attorney
representing the petitioners for change of the zoning;
be informed that unless the matter was resolved this
week, the City Council would drop this matter from
the atenda and sustain the Zoning Board's recommen-
dation against the proposed changes .

City Council regarding the appointments to the Board
of Equalization. Councilman Kemble reported that it
was their recommendation that Mr. W. R. Lamb, and
Mr. Ed House be appointed to serve on the Board of
Equalization, and that the daily fee be increased
from $50 to $75 per day.
At regular Council meeting, Council approved
recommendations regarding appointments and fee for
the Board of Equalization.
