Meeting indicated (inquire of Councilman
Shannon) , plus staff.
The City Manager asked which Council Members could
attend the annual meeting of the North Central Texas Coun-
cil of Governments at 11:00 a,m. Thursday, January 19, 1967
in the Golden Palace Ballroom of the Inn of the Six Flags.
Mayor Barr, Mayor Pro-Tem Scranton Jones, and Council-
mea Kemble, Stovall, and Eagle said they could go.
Councilwoman Deen, and Councilmen Hoover and Ha® said
they probably couldn't go.
Councilman Shannon was absent.
Contract for New Office Building at Meacham Field NAN

Councilman Stovall inquired about the lease status
for the new office building.
The Aviation Director replied that the first floor in
the new building has been tentatively spoken for, as have
sbout 7,000 square feet of the second floor. He said that
all who are tenants in the present terminal building will
move to thu new building. He said no tenants have been
asked to make a lease yet, because the Board is still con-
sidering rates. He said also that the City could get better
lease deals at a later date, particularly for the restaurant.
lie said that about $4 per square foot average rental at 90
: er cent iWcupancy will allow the new office building to break
even. He said the rates would be less than $4 on the second
17loor. In response to a question, he said that the rates on
_he existing building vary from $3. 50 to $5. 12 per square foot.
Councilman Stovall asked if the practice of taxing air-
planes as personal property still continues on Meacham Field.
Mr. J. Lee Johnson, III, Chairman of the Aviation Board,
!,aid that airplanes have been taxed at Meacham Field for
,overal years and continue to be taxed. He said there are
ntl- important items at Meacham Field he believes personally
-,hould be considered further, including-,
1) to remove the personal property taxes on airplanes,
2) to remove the obstructions at the ends of the runways, z--
including getting the wires down this year,
3) to provide for a longer runway than is even now
planned, and

4) to get the office and administration building con-
