Fort Worth Committee. liv City Manager said this is a matter up to the City Council. Councilman Stovall a:,ked if the suggested call last week to determine the progress of the Growth.' Fort Worth t:ui-wtittee resulted in any information on the status of that work. The City Manager reported that the Chairman of the Cenmittee was out of town last week. Councilman Eagle suggested passing M&C G-1062 since it was of minor importance, and advising the Growth.' Fort t;,irtth Committee of that action. Such action was taken at the regular meeting. Contract Governing Use of Fort Worth Art Center NAN (M&C C-902) Councilman Stovall asked what the difference is t ., ween the recommended contract and the earlier draft :,et,t to the Council. The City Manager replied that there afv no major changes, but only minor changes in wording ' u :rcntc better understanding. Councilman Eagle asked if the Art Center Board is ,agreeable. The City Manager replied that it is, and that : citable signatures are on the contract. He said this contract will be used as a model for drafting one for the 'hildren' ; Museum, which is now operating without a con- tract. At the regular meeting M&C C-902 was approved un:.utimous ly. He suggested that this only be used a . :i draft for Council consideration. Councilman Hamm asked if there are any conflicts hv-L%.ve.n the proposed ordinance the Gold Cross contract. Councilman Hamm said that the permit fres required y the proposed ordinance would put an added financial hi.rden on the ambulance companies, which are already hard- hro!.sed to make ends meet. The City Manager said that the iu rmit fees are a very small part of the total company ex- poiu es. Councilman Eagle asked who dispatches invalid coaches. 'llie Police Chief said that invalid coaches are dispatched by tuk- Police Department only when calls are routed through the Police Department, and in most cases the Police are not ad- vi:,ed regarding invalid coach calls. The City Manager said t.tt emergency ambulance dispatch would be regulated by the i'ulice Department if the new ordinance is adopted, but in- v.ilid coach calls would not be. Mr. Howard Moore appeared for the Moore Funeral Home of Arlington, reporting that its Fort Worth office at 4912 �:.t• t Lancaster had been discontinued since the time the i•'or•t -forth funeral home operators went out of the ambulance bu:;ini-ss last fall. Mr. Moore said he feels the State ambulance Kermit is sufficient for Moore to operate wi+-ihin Fort Worth, .4ithout other special permits or fees. He questioned the lul;ality of the ordinance provision that would not allow itis company to transfer a patient between locations within the t:ity of Fort Worth, unless he had a permit from the City. du iLatcd he wanted out of emergency ambt ince business in 1-ort Worth, but wanted to continue -,,ith invalid coach service. Mr. Thomas Russell appeared Lor Russell Funeral Home at 1t1 BonnelI Street , saying that his company now operate":, one ambulance and one invalid coach on a 24-hour service basis and dt- areas to continue the operation. r . Benefit Hearing - Pavement Improvements of NAN T Fournier Street (M&C G-1063) Councilman Kemble asked if a signal light is pi.tnned on West Seventh Street at Fournier. I'he City Manager said there will be a traffic count made as soon as Forest Park Blvd, extension is opened and a determina- Linn made at that time whether a signal light is warranted. The Public Works Director reported that the Forest Park Blvd. Extc nsion would be opened in about one month, At the regular meeting, the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department gave the staff report on the pav- ing improvements. Mr. Van Zandt Smith, 1300 Western Ave- nue, reported to the Council that his property on Fournier Street at Seventh is 12 feet above the street level, and he said it therefore will runt be benefitted by the paving improvement. The Council unanimously closed the hearing and levied the assessments as proposed. 'i. Award of Contract, Paving Improvements on NAN Craig Street (MSC C-907) The City Manager said that the section of Craig Street between Haynie and Handley Drive was paved in 1951 under a City policy where the property owners paid 80 cents per front foot, and that therefore this street qualified for the reconstruction policy assessments. He said that Craig Street west of Haynie may also come under this poli- cy, although no evidence had been turned up to date. Councilman Hamm asked whether Craig Street was in tbu City of Handley when it was paved. The City Manager -.aid that he was sure it was in Fort Worth, since the City of Fort Worth had participated in the paving in 1951. At the regular meeting, M&C C-907 was approved unanimously. F,. Lea:;e of Data Recorders for Equipment NAN Maintenance Division (M&C C-904) Mayor Barr asked it' the staff has checked out the purchase of this equipment. The City Manager said it has, but that there are so many new developments in this field that it is considered desirable to lease the equipment. He said also that the City will get full credit on its rental payments at the end of two years if it desires to urchase equipment at that time. At the regular meeting M&C C-904 was approved : tts�imously. Rental Agreement for Shrine Circus at Will NAN Rogers Coliseum (M&C C-906) Councilman Kemble asked if everything is now okay trout. the earlier time that an argument resulted with the urine on what charges there were for its circus. The Riblic Works Director said that bids are now out for 60 000 beet of pipe required for the ice rink. He said that since there is three months delivery time , this item is being ordered now, and the construction specifications will i—uquire the successful bidder to pick up this pipe in Iii , hid.
