The White Settfement Independent Schoo[District Police Department
The Texas Education Code requires a memorandum of understanding
between the police departments of school districts and municipalities, (Texas
Education Code Sec 37.081, School District Peace Officer and Security
Personnel). The White Settlement Independent School District Police
Department has extended its ability to investigate criminal activities
occurring within its jurisdiction. The primary duties of police officers
commissioned by the White Settlement Independent School District
(W.S.I.S.D.) are as follows:
• To provide a safe and secure environment for students, staff and its
citizens while those persons that are participating or attending school
sponsored activities, which includes but not limited to extra curricular
activities, students in transit to and from school, or any other school
related activity on or off campus.
• To protect the property of the Districtincluding real and personal
property located inside and outside the boundaries of the District that
is owned, leased, rented, or otherwise under the control of the District.
• To protect the personal property of all individuals engaged in school
related activities.
Performance of these duties include all territory within the geographical
boundaries of the White Settlement Independent School District, or within
the State of Texas while those individuals are under the direct supervision of
the District.
The following locations are in the City of Fort Worth, Texas; Blue Haze
Elementary, Tannahill Intermediate School, and to include any existing
properties or facilities built in the future.
PROVISIONS
I. The White Settlement I.S.D. Police Departrnent and the Fort Worth
Police Department will have concurrent jurisdiction of property
belonging to, leased, or rented by, or other wise under the care,
custody or control of he school district within the city limits of the
City of Fort Worth, Texas. White Settlement I.S.D. Police will have
primary jurisdiction for all misdemeanors and felony offense that
occur within the school district property. In addition, the White
Settlement I.S.D. Police will be responsible for investigating all
traffic accidents that occur on school property or involving school
district vehicles, (school buses, maintenance vehicles, etc.).
2. White Settlement I.S.D. Police retains primary jurisdiction over all
bomb threats. These threats will be reported to the Fort Worth Fire
Department only if assistance is needed in disposing of any
suspicious incendiary devices.
3. In the event, White Settlement I.S.D. Police Officers make a
warrantless arrest off school district property, that does not directly
involve students or staff of the White Settlement Independent School m
District, the White Settlement I.S.D. Police will transport the arrested
to the proper facility and inform the City of Fort Worth Police
Department.

4. Should additional assistance be required such as, (major crime scene,
tactical situations, etc.) the City of Fort Worth Police Department will
have unconditional control over the crime scene in all cases where
primary jurisdiction is assumed. Fort Worth Police Department
retains on-scene command and control authority over placement and
role of their police officers when assisting White Settlement I.S.D. LU
Police.

5. White Settlement I.S.D. Police Department request that the Fort
Worth Police Department comply with the notification of criminal
activities (Art. 15.27 Code of Criminal Procedures) involving
students enrolled in the White Settlement I.S.D. schools. o
