Mr.Sahu:
We are pleased to have been selected to assist the City of Fort Worth with the above referenced project;
submitted herewith is a revised proposal to our previously submitted request for a contract modification
dated January 18°i, 2005. This revised request provides for additional compensation to perform sewer
service line re-route surveys.
Our original contract was for the reconstruction of sanitary sewer lateral 2576,which Is in the right of way
of Birchman Ave, and services between five and ten homes. Upon review of this lateral by the city, we
were asked to review the feasibility of abandoning Lateral 2576 and rerouting the services to the sewer
laterals within the alley behind the homes, L-2361 and L-991 which Is under design by IGmely Horn and
associates. We were then supplied with videos of sanitary sewer lateral 2361 and 2576 for our review.
Based on our review of sanitary sewer lateral 2576, we feel that abandoning this lateral and rerouting the
services to lateral 2361 in,the alley behind the homes would be feasible. Based on our review of sanitary
sewer lateral 2361 we have determined that the general condition of the line is poor. The existing pipe
from Sta:13+00 to the end Sta:24+68 Is VCP with multiple cracks, significant surface wear and varying
degrees of root growth at most joints. Also in this reach of the lateral the existing manholes are general
old with brick tops that are cracked. Between Sta:9+00 and Sta:13+00 the pipe Is PVC that Is noticeably
newer and in good condition. Also, the manholes at Sta:9+00 and Sta:15+00 are in noticeably newer with
concrete tops and concrete pads. So our recommendation to the city is to reconstruct sanitary sewer
lateral 2361 from Sta:13+00 to Sta:24+68,which is within the limits of our project.
The estimated construction cost for this additional scope of work has been estimated at $151,800; we
propose an engineering fee, which Includes basic and additional services, of $18,204.90. Additional
services consist of topographic(design)surveys.
