MEMORANDUM
TO: A. Douglas Rademaker, Director DOE and
Marc A. Ott, Assistant City Manager
FROM: Miguel A. Domenech,P.E. t%
DATE: November 12, 2003
RE: DESIGN FEE AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO SANITARY SEWER REHABILI-
TATION CONTRACT LXVIII (68), DOE NO. 3766, WATER PROJECT NO.
PS58-070580175800
The proposed amendment will reimburse Carter & Burgess, Inc. (C&B) for the additional
engineering services that were provided on the project as requested by the City.
During construction it was determined that a 250 LF portion of lateral L-2781 (which is lo-
cated at the immediate downstream end of a project sewer main) is in a dilapidated condition
and in need of replacement. This amendment will allow C&B to provide the necessary sur-
vey and design to replace the lateral. The amendment will also reimburse C&B for the sur-
veying services that were provided to allow for the rerouting of all private services from a
lateral located in the rear lots of Eastwood Avenue to the new lateral to be installed in public
right-of-way of Eastwood Avenue.
Carter & Burgess, Inc., has requested a fee of$7,149.00 for the additional services thereby
increasing the contract fee from $207,093.00 to $214,242.00. I believe this fee is fair and rea-
sonable for the additional services that were provided.
Please authorize this additional design fee by your signatures on the attached contract
amendment form.
