My guess is that the project did not include any water or sewer to address these conflicts. Paul, will Freese adjust their storm sewer or does the water need to be lowered at this location? Downsizing from the main 21"to 18"at the current grade will not provide enough separation. It appears that Freese will need to develop plans to lower the water main. Thanks. John Kasavich. The rest of the markings are raised markers. For simplicity,I think we should establish a 12-inch wide marking removal and pay for each pass on the zebra crosswalk.TXDOT's 677 specification considers the raised marker removal to be incidental to the striping removal.300 linear feet should be more than sufficient to remove the striping. Please propose a cost to do this work.Thanks. Attachments: @(65 B) Melinda, We understand you are pretty busy dealing with storm cleanup. As you know,we chose 5 tree wells to do percolation tests to identify possible poor draining tree wells. We had a couple of those prove to be poor drainers(less than 2" in the allotted test time)and the others moderate drainers. We understand that one way to alleviate the poor drainage is to create an underdrain system. At this time both for financial and other site reasons,we cannot entertain that solution. Storm drain inlets on Hemphill are scarce and thus we cannot,at this time, add underdrains to the wells. We have spoken to the design engineers landscape architect and it has been suggested that another way to look at this situation is to recommend another tree species. Bald Cypress trees have been recommended to us and we would suggest replacing all trees with this species. Drought tolerance has been explained to us to be comparable to the Red Oaks we were planning to use on this project. Please give us a call at your convenience to discuss. We would like to give the landscape contractor enough notice so he can locate enough Bald Cypress trees for the job. Here is what we are running up against.. Basically they can get you any tree your looking for in a 65 gallon..The kicker is it will run $200-$250 per tree more..This looks like to be the only way to solve this problem unless they stay with the original plan of oaks_. The supply and demand on trees are making it very difficult and the farms seem to be able to charge at will.. Please let me know your thoughts.. The original bid called for a total of 73(qty),65 Gallon Trees(192.2026)at$480 each. What is shown on the attached revised sheets is 70(qty),mixed species trees(Shumard(Red)Oak,Cedar Elm, and Pond Cypress). The break down goes like this: QTY Species Size Installed Price 47 Shumard(Red)Oaks 65 Gallon, 12-14' ht,6-8'sp,3%:-4"cal $480 18 Cedar Elm B&B,equivalent ht and cal as Red Oaks $480(price from ALS 7-15-14 email) 5 Pond Cypress 65 Gallon, equivalent ht and cal as Red Oaks $680(original installed price plus$200 premium, price from R Lacy 7-10-14 email) For a total of 70 trees. We eliminated 3 total trees(marked with a cloud on the attached sheets). Please confirm the prices and size description with the landscape contractor and make any clarifications. Please Note: All trees will be inspected prior to installation. The City Forester has asked that the landscape contractor and nursery work to mark the north facing side of the tree and make that match the installation direction. This is especially important with the Red Oaks. We need 48 hours of lead to get these inspected. For the three(3) Pond Cypress being utilized in the paver grate areas. We need to have those paver grates opened to their largest setting. Apparently Cypress trees get a trunk flare in their early growth,so this will help accommodate that growth. When installing the 4"inspection tubes,a breathe hole needs to be added. This can be accomplished drilling a hole at the top end of the inspection tube or cap itself. This allows air to get to the bottom of the tree, which f helps with water percolation.
