Burleson & Associates, Inc. , (Engineer) made and entered into City Secretary Contract No. 27585, (the Contract) which was authorized by the City Council by M&C C-19901 on the 19th day of March 2002 ; and WHEREAS, the Contract involves engineering services for the following project: Water and Sanitary Sewer Replacement Contract 2001 WSM-N WHEREAS, it has become necessary to execute Amendment No. 2 to said Contract to include an increased scope of work and revised maximum fee; NOW THEREFORE, City and Engineer, acting herein by and through their duly authorized representatives, enter into the following agreement which amends the Contract: 1 . Article I of the Contract is amended to include the additional engineering services specified in a proposal letter dated November 6, 2003, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein. The cost to City for the additional design services to be performed by Engineer total $24 , 620 .63 . 2 . Article II of the Contract is amended to provide for an increase in the maximum fee to be paid to Engineer for all work and services performed under the Contract, as amended, so that the total fee paid by the City for all work and services shall not exceed the sum of $116, 918 .81. 9v�rr 1 " 2 3 . No. 3599 Dear Mr. Conlon: This letter is in response for the need of additional water lines in order to change the existing pressure plane boundary within the proposed water-sewer project area. An additional 3,772 linear feet of existing water lines are to be replaced. A breakdown of this waterline replacement is as follows: • Replace existing 6-inch waterline in W 7th St.with 8-inch waterline from Alta Dr. to Belle Place. • Install new 8-inch waterline in Belle Place from W 7'h St. to W 6th St. • Install two new parallel 8-inch waterlines in Belle Place from W 6th St. to W 4th St. to separate existing 6-inch waterlines in W 6th St. and W 5th St. • Adjust proposed 10-inch sanitary sewer Line A to the centerline of Belle Place to accommodate for the two additional 8-inch waterlines. • Install pressure plane valves at the following intersections: W 7th St. and Belle Place W 4th St. and Belle Place W 4th St. and Virginia Place W 4th St. and Westview Ave. Accompanying this letter is second design amendment for this project, opinion of probable cost, and a concept plan showing the additional waterlines, If you have any questions or require additional information, please call. 1z: ly V, V& Ned K. Ott,Assistant City Manager FROM: Liam Conlon, Project Manager DOE DATE: November 14,2003 RE: DESIGN FEE AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO SANITARY SEWER REPLACEMENT CONTRACT 2001 WSM-N WATER PROJECT NO.PW53-060530176380 CITY SECRETARY No: 27585 DOE NO.3599 This proposed amendment will allow Ned K. Burleson & Associates, Inc., to provide additional engineer- ing services on the project as requested by the City. A recently completed evaluation of the pressure plane boundaries that was conducted following numerous complaints of low water pressure by residents within the project area has identified the need to move the area from the lower Holly pressure plane to the higher West Side H pressure plane. In order to achieve the desired higher water pressure, an additional 3,770 linear feet of water main, will need to be installed. Amendment No: 1, provided for the abandonment and rerouting of two (2) Sanitary Sewer laterals which traverse private property east and west of West View Avenue. Ned K. Burleson & Associates, Inc., submitted a proposal in the amount of$24,620 for the additional de- sign and survey services,thereby increasing the contract fee from $92,298.17 to $116,918.81. I believe this fee is fair and reasonable for the additional services that will be provided. Please authorize the additional design fee by your signatures on the attached contract amendment form.
