HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014/12/02-Minutes-City Council-Executive Session CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING CLOSED EXECUTIVE SESSION DECEMBER 2, 2014 After proper notice given pursuant to the Texas Open Meetings Act, Mayor Price adjourned the Council meeting of the Fort Worth City Council at 4:23p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, to convene into the Special City Council Meeting for the closed Executive Session in the Pre- Council Chamber of the Fort Worth Municipal Building. Present: Mayor Betsy Price Mayor Pro tem Salvador Espino, District 2 Council Member W.B. "Zim" Zimmerman, District 3 Council Member Daniel Scarth, District 4 Council Member.Jungus Jordan, District 6 Council Member Dennis Shingleton, District 7 Council Member Kelly Allen Gray, District 8 Council Member Ann Zadeh, District 9 Absent: Council Member Gyna Bivens, District S Staff Present: David Cooke, City Manager Sarah Fullenwider, City Attorney Mary J. Kayser, City Secretary Jay Chapa for Fernando Costa, Assistant City Manager Susan Alanis, Assistant City Manager Charles Daniels, Assistant City Manager Gerald Pruitt, Deputy City Attorney Peter Vaky, Deputy City Attorney Randle Harwood, Director of Planning and Development Aaron Bovos, Chief Financial Officer Rudy Jackson, Fire Chief Jeff Halstead, Police Chief Deputy Chief Martin Salinas Sophia Canady, Risk Management Laetitia Brown, Sr. Assistant City Attorney Maleshia Farmer, Sr. Assistant City Attorney All Staff except for the City Manager left Executive Session at 4:42 pm. With a quorum of the City Council Members present, the Fort Worth City Council convened into closed Executive Session at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, in the Pre-Council Chamber of the Fort Worth Municipal Building to discuss matters pertaining to the following: CITY OF FORT WORTH,TEXAS SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING DECEMBER 2, 2014 PAGE 2 of 2 1. Seek the advice of its attorneys concerning the following pending or contemplated litigation or other matters that are exempt from public disclosure under Article X, Section 9 of the Texas State Bar Rules and as authorized by Section 551.071 of the Texas Government Code: a. 3rd Eye Surveillance, LLC v. City of'Fort Worth, Cause No. 6:14-cv-00725,U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas; b. Legal issues concerning pending indefinite suspensions; and c. Legal issues concerning any item listed on today's City Council meeting agendas 2. Deliberate the purchase, sale, lease or value of real property in accordance with Section 551.072 of the Texas Government Code. Deliberation in an open meeting would have a detrimental effect on the position of the City in negotiations with a third party; and 3. Deliberate concerning economic development negotiations as authorized by Section 551.087 of the Texas Government Code; and 4. Deliberate the deployment, or specific occasions for implementation, of security personnel or devices, in accordance with Section 551.076 of the Texas Government Code; and 5. Deliberate the evaluation and duties of David Cooke, City Manager, in accordance with Section 551.074 of the Texas Government Code. There was no formal action taken by the City Council on the items discussed during the Executive Session and with no further business to be conducted, Mayor Price adjourned the meeting at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014.
