A RESOLUTION TO NAME THE BOB BOLEN PUBLIC SAFETY COMPLEX
WHEREAS, the City is completing a new Public Safety Training and Headquarters
Complex to meet the Public Safety training and administration needs of the City. F
i
WHEREAS, Robert Eugene "Bob" Bolen, who passed away January 6, 2014 was a
politician and businessman who held office as the longest-serving Mayor of Fort Worth, Texas,
from 1982 to 1991; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Bob Bolen believed in regional strategies and worked to help set up ;
the Fort Worth Transportation Authority, the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport Board, the Dallas/Fort
Worth International Trade Resource Center and the Metroplex High Technology Education Task
Force; and

WHEREAS, under Mayor Bolen, Fort Worth established its first sister city relationships
with Reggio Emilia, Italy, Trier, Germany, and Nagaoka, Japan.
WHEREAS,Mayor Bob Bolen was known for working to attract and support a range of
diverse economic development projects to the City of Fort Worth including such major projects
as Downtown Fort Worth, Alliance Airport, the American Airlines Maintenance Facility and the
U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing, all of which continue to contribute to the health of our j
robust economy today; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Bob Bolen was a mentor, advisor and counsellor to many.Fort Worth
citizens throughout his life: and

WHEREAS, Mayor Bob Bolen left Fort Worth a much better place than he found it; and
}
WHEREAS, Mayor Bob Bolen exceeds all of the City's Policy requirements and criteria
for naming a facility in his honor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY f

That the new Public Safety Complex be named Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex in
honor of Mayor Bob Bolen's many contributions to the City of Fort Worth. i
