HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 4424-03-2015 A Resolution NO. 4424-03-2015 AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH AND REIMBURSEMENT BY THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE CITY OF FORT WORTH FURNISHING TRAFFIC SIGNAL EQUIPMENT FOR THREE INTERSECTIONS LOCATED ON STATE RIGHTS OF WAY WITHIN THE FORT WORTH CITY LIMITS WHEREAS, the State owns and maintains a system of highways and roadways, including SH 170 (Alliance Gateway) at Old Denton Road, SH 114 at FM 156, and IH 20 at Bryant Irvin Road, located within the boundaries of the City; and WHEREAS, the City has requested the State to reimburse the cost of furnishing traffic signal equipment at the intersections of SH 170 (Alliance Gateway) at Old Denton Road, SH 114 at FM 156, and IH 20 at Bryant Irvin Road, called the "Projects"; and WHEREAS, the City desires that traffic signal equipment be provided that is compatible with standard signal operations or existing City equipment; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City and the State for the City to assist the State by furnishing traffic signal equipment on the Projects; and WHEREAS, the Texas Transportation Commission passed Minute Order Nos. 112844, 113073, and 113675 approving the Projects; and WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the signals and associated materials furnished by the City for the Projects is $37,483.20; and WHEREAS, the State is authorized to enter into agreements with the City for the Projects pursuant to Texas Transportation Code §221.002; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: The City Manager is authorized to enter into agreements with the Texas Department of Transportation to have the City of Fort Worth furnish traffic signal equipment for three intersections on State rights of way located within the City limits at the intersections of SH 170 (Alliance Gateway) at Old Denton Road, SH 114 at FM 156, ORT WORT and IH 20 at Bryant Irvin Road and accept reimbursement from the Texas Department of Transportation therefor. Adopt a resolution supporting the furnishing and reimbursement for traffic signal equipment for three Texas Department of Transportation intersections located on State rights-of-way within the Fort Worth city limits; 2. Authorize execution of Agreements between The Texas Department of Transportation and the City of Fort Worth to receive reimbursement for traffic signal equipment for three intersections located on State rights-of-way within the Fort Worth city limits at a cost to the State of$37,483.20; and 3. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the General Capital Fund in the amount of$37,483.20. DISCUSSION: The State owns and maintains a system of highways and roadways located within the boundaries of the City of Fort Worth. Three intersections have been approved for traffic signal construction by the Texas Transportation Commission at the following locations: Intersection Location Signal Materials Costs SH 114 at FM 156 F $10,205.20 IH 20 at Bryant Irvin Rd. $13,639.00 SH 170 at Old Denton Rd. $13,639.00 otal - $37,483.20 As part of an ongoing and cooperative effort between the City and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the City will provide the traffic signal equipment, and in turn, TxDOT will reimburse the City for the equipment costs. This action insures that the traffic signal equipment is compatible with standard signal operations and existing City equipment. After construction is completed, the City will maintain these traffic signals as part of a Maintenance Agreement (M&C C-25951) that was approved by City Council on November 6, 2012. Intersections are located in COUNCIL DISTRICTS 3, 6 and 7, Mapsco 88M, 7Z and 642Q. FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION: The Financial Management Services Director certifies that upon approval of the above recommendations, funds will be available in the current capital budget, as appropriated of the General Capital Fund. The Transportation and Public Works Department will be responsible for the collection and deposit of funds that are due to the City.
