AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH AND REIMBURSEMENT BY THE
TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF 'I'RANSPORTATION FOR THE CITY OF FORT
WORTH FURNISHING TRAFFIC SIGNAL EQUIPMENT FOR THE
INTERSECTION OF S.H. 114 AND HARRIET CREEK ROAD ON STATE RIGHT
OF WAY WITHIN THE FORT WORTH CITY` LIMITS
WHEREAS, the State owns and maintains a systc:m of higl!iways and roadways,
including S.H. 114 at Harriet Creek Road located within the boundaries of the City; and
WHEREAS, the City has requested the State to reimburse the cost of furnishing
traffic signal equipment at the intersection of S.H. 114 at Harriet Creek Road, called the
"ProJect"; and
WHEREAS, the City desires that traffic signal equipment be provided that is
compatible with standard signal operations or existing City equipment; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City and the State for the City to assist
the State by furnishing traffic signal equipment on the Project; and
WHEREAS, the Texas Transportation Corntnission passed Minute Order No.
113073 approving the Project; and
WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the signals and associated materials furnished
by the City for the Project is $32,848.00; and
WHEREAS, the State is authorized to enter into agreements with the City for the
Project pursuant to Texas Transportation Code §221.002;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS:
The City Manager is authorized to enter into agreements with the Texas
Department of Transportation to have the City of Fort Worth furnish traffic signal
equiprnent for the intersection of S.H.,l 14 at Harriet Creek R..oad on State right of way
located within the City limits and accept reimbursement, from the Texas Department of
,Transportation therefor in an amount of $32,848.00. -z

SUBJECT:
Adopt Resolution Authorizing Execution of a Local Project Funding Agreement with the Texas Department
of Transportation in the Amount of$32,848.00 to Furnish Traffic Signal Equipment for Intersection
Improvements at State Highway 114 and Harriet Creek Road and Accept Reimbursement of Costs for
Signal Equipment Furnished to the Texas Department of Transportation and Adopt Appropriation
Ordinance (COUNCIL DISTRICT 7)
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council:
1. Adopt the attached resolution authorizing execution of a Local Project Funding Agreement with the
Texas Department of Transportation in the amount of$32,848.00 to furnish traffic signal equipment for
intersection improvements at State Highway 114 and Harriet Creek Road;
2. Accept a reimbursement of costs for signal equipment furnished to the Texas Department of
Transportation; and
3. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the
Intergovernmental Contributions Fund in the amount of$32,848.00.
DISCUSSION:
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) owns and maintains a system of highways and
roadways including the intersection of State Highway 114 and Harriet Creek Road. In order
to
synchronize TxDOT-owned traffic signals with City-owned traffic signals, the City is responsible for
operation and maintenance of traffic signals along State Highway 114. TxDOT is reconstructing the above
mentioned intersection to include traffic signal equipment. As part of an ongoing partnership between
TxDOT and the City, the City will provide the traffic signal equipment and in turn, TxDOT' ill reimburse
the City for costs of the signal equipment. This action insures that the traffic signal equipment is
compatible with standard signal operations and existing City equipment.

TxDOT will manage and pay for all construction of the project. The City will maintain the traffic signal
equipment as part of a Maintenance Agreement (M&C C-25951) approved by the City Council on
November 6, 2012.
There will be no additional operating impact as a result of these upgrades.
The intersection of State Highway 114 and Harriet Creek Road is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 7,
Mapsco 642K.
FISCAL INFORMATION / CERTIFICATION:
The Financial Management Services Director certifies that upon approval of the above recommendations
and adoption of the attached appropriation ordinance, funds will be available in the current capital budget,
as appropriated of the Intergovernmental Contributions Fund. The Transportation and Public Works
Department will be responsible for the collection and deposit of funds due to the City under this Funding
Agreement.
