AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE VEHICULAR TRAFFIC ON STREITS, AVENUES AND THOROUGHFARES IN THE CITY OF FORT 'NORTH, TEXAS, AND REQUIRING VEHICLES TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE APPROACHING OR ENTERING CERTAIN STREETS AND THOROUGHFARES 'THERE STOP SIGNS AND SIGNALS HAVE BEEN PLACED, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION OF SUCH ORDINANCE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH: SECTION I. Definitions : Unless it appears from the context that a different meaning is intended, the following words shall have the meaning attached to them by this section; (a) The term "street" shall mean and include any street, alley, avenue, lane, public place or highway within the City limits of the City of Fort Worth. (b) The term 11 curb" shall mean the edge of a roadway or street marker, designated and otherwise under- stood to be such. (a) The term "vehicle" shall mean and include any automobile, bicycle, truck, street car or conveyance of any kind or character, and include a horse or any other traffic animal. (d) The term "driver" shall mean any person in control of a vehicle. (e) The term "stop sign" shall mean any sign or symbol in writing or in print with the word "stop" on it, placed in some convenient location in the street. (f) The term "limit lines" shall mean boundaries or other lines that may be drawn or designated by the Chief of Police or any of his assistants . r. (g) The term "intersection of a street" shall mean any part of one street that crosses another street. (h) The term "curb line" shall mean the line that would exist if the curb on a ctreet were extended across an intersecting street. SECTION II. That the driver of any vehicle on the streets of the City of Fort Worth shall bring his vehicle to a full and complete stop not more than twenty feet from the curb line, when approaching the intersection and be- fore crossing the curb line in any of the following streets in the sAta City: (a) !fest 7th street from the east line of Taylor street to the west line of Penn street. (b) Jennings Avenue from the north line of Rio Grande street to the south line of Magnolia Avenue. (c) Magnolia Avenue from the east line of South Main street to the west line of Bighth Avenue. SECTION III. That any driver of a vehicle approaching the intersection of any street, in addition to the streets designated in Section II, at which intersection a stop sign has been placed by order of the City Council of said City, shall bring such vehicle to a full and complete stop not more than twenty feet from the curb line before entering such street or crossing the curb line of same. SECTION IV. T he present crowded and congested condition of the traffic on the streets , highways and portions of streets and highways hereinbefore mentioned, and the .constantly increasing vehicular traffic in the City of Fort orth creates a dangerous condition and a menance to life and property, thereby making at imperatively necessary to adopt and enforce the regulations herein prescribed. SECTION V. That the holding or adjudication of any section or subdivision of any section or part of any subdivision of any section of this Ordinance to be invalid, shall not affect the validity of any other section of part of the subdivision of the section thereof, but all other sections , subdivisions and parts of subdivisions of sections shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION VI. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be cumulative of all of the provisions of Ordinances regulating and gov- erning vehicular traffic upon and along the streets of the City of Fort North, and shall not be held to repeal any of the provisions of any of such Ordinances except in those in- stances where such Ordinances are in direct conflict with the express provisions of this Ordinance. AM. SECTION VII. Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be convicted of a fine not to exceed One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the date of its passaga dnd publication as required by law. Approved as to form: city orney.
