HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 8005 ORDINANCE NO._YC�V AN ORDINANCE SPECIFYING THE AUTHORIZED POSITIONS IN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND CREATING NEW POSITIONS IN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND NAMING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, in adopting the 1979-80 Budget (Ordinance No. 7951) the City Council appropriated funds to cover the antici- pated salary and related costs for two (2) Fire Captains, four (4) Fire Lieutenants, six (6) Fire Engineers, and eighteen (18) Fire Privates in the Fire Department to staff two planned, new fire- houses (Stations 7 and 13) ; and WHEREAS, the two planned, new firehouses have been com- pleted and are ready for staffing and activation; and WHEREAS, the City Council intended that the aforementioned positions would be created and filled when the firehouses were com- pleted; and WHEREAS, the Fire Chief has requested the Council create these necessary positions; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the following positions are the only positions authorized in the City of Fort Worth Fire Department for Fiscal Year 1979-80: 304 Fire Privates 152 Fire Engineers 86 Fire Lieutenants 62 Fire Captains 18 District Chiefs 3 Deputy Chiefs 36 Civilians SECTION 2. That all of the declarations and findings contained in the preamble of this ordinance are made a part hereof and shall be fully effective as part of the ordained subject matter of this ordinance. SECTION 3. That if any section, part of a section or provisions of any section of this ordinance shall be held to be void, ineffective or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding of such section, part of a section or provision of any section to be void, ineffective or unconstitutional for any cause whatsoever shall in no way effect the validity of the remaining sections and provisions of the ordinance, which shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage as provided by law, and it is so ordained. At that time, inspection and acceptance of Fire Station No. 13 was anticipated within the week. The Fire Department is preparing for the opening of these stations and the Fire Chief recommends creation of the positions necessary to staff them, i.e. 2 Fire Captains, 4 Fire Lieutenants, 6 Fire Engineers and 18 Fire Privates. Funds were budgeted for these positions, when created, in the 1979-80 Budget adopted by the City Council.
