HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 16720-12-2005Ordinance No 1 ~~ao-~a aoos- AN ORDINANCE INCREASING ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE GRANTS FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $16 508 SUBJECT TO EXECUTION OF AMENDED CITY SECRETARY CONTRACT 32619 WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE HEALTH SERVICES REGIONAL AND LOCAL SERVICES SECTION LOCAL PUBLIC HEALTH SYSTEM FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING EXTENDED ESSENTIAL PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES FROM FEBRUARY 28, 2006 THROUGH AUGUST 31 2006, MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH TEXAS SECTION 1 That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for Fiscal Year 2005-2006 and in the Budget of the City Manager there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Grants Fund in the amount of $16,508 subject to execution of amended City Secretary Contract 32619 with the Department of State Health Services Regional and Local Services Section, Local Public Health System for the purpose of funding extended essential public health services from February 28 2006 through August 31 2006 SECTION 2 That should any portion section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction such decision opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the Grants Fund by $16 508 00• and 3 Waive indirect costs of 10% to allow maximum use of funds for delivery of services to the community DISCUSSION On September 27 2005 M&C C-21032 was approved by City Council authorizing execution of a grant contract (City Secretary No 32619) with DSHS This contract is funded for $20 000 00 to provide essential public health services from September 1 2005 to February 28 2006 On October 3 2005 DSHS notified the city of the availability of an additional $16 508 00 for this program The City of Fort Worth Public Health Department's Health Promotion and Education section will complete a service delivery plan aimed at increasing awareness of the benefits of regular physical activity and proper nutrition as they apply to 1 Reducing the risk of developing or dying from some of the leading causes of death and illness i e cancer high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease 2.
