AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE REPORT OF THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT:
AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF PORTIONS OF NORTH
COMMERCE STREET, KILPATRICK AVENUE, AVENUE "M", SOUTH MAIN STREET,
NORTH-WEST TW&TTY-EIGHTH STREET, WAYNE STREET, AND, NORTH-WEST. TWEM-
SEVENTH STREET IN TIE; CITY OF FORT WORTH, TERAS, AND AUTHORIZING ITS
EXECUTION: MAKING APPROPRIATION FOR THE INDEBTEDNESS INCURRED THEREBY:
AND DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO PREPARE ESTIMATES.
WNiEREAS, by Ordinances passed and approved by the City Council of the City
of Fort Worth, being Ordinances Nos. 3552, 3553, 3554, 3555, 3556, 3557, 3556,
and 3565, the City determined the necessity for and ordered the improvement of
portions of streets at eight (8) locations, to-wit:
NORTH COMMERCE STREET: from the northerly line of 33rd Street to the
southerly line of 34th Street, known and designated as Unit No• 1.
NORTH C010MOE STREET: from the northerly line of 34th Street to the
southerly line of 35th Street, known and designated as Unit No. 2.
KILPATRICK AVENUE: from the westerly line of Neville Street to the
easterly line of Merrick Street, known and designated as Unit No. 3.
AVENUE "M": from the easterly line of Otto Street to the westerly line
of Schmidt Street, known and designated as Unit No. 4.
SOUTH MAIN STREET: from the southerly line of Berry Street to the
northerly line of Devitt Street, known and designated as Unit No. 5.
NORTIP.;WEST TWENTY-EIGHTH STREET: from the northerly line of Macie Avenue
to the southerly line'of Robinson Street, known and designated as Unit No. 6.
WAYNE STREET: from the northerly line of Wheeler Street to the southerly
line of Fain Street, known and designated as Unit No. 7.
NORTH-TASST T14ENTY-SEVENTH STREET: from the westerly line of Macie Avenue
to the easterly line of Robinson Street, known and designated as Unit No. 8.
WHEREAS, subsequent to the passage and approval of said Ordinances, Plans
and Specifications for.said improvements were submitted by the Public Works
Director and said Plans and Spezifications were approved and adopted by the City
Council; and,
WHEREAS, Notice to Bidders was given as required by the City Charter;
and,
WHEREAS, the bid of General,Construction Company was found to be the
lowest and best bid for the making and construction of said improvement, to-wit:
Excavation of present streets and placing 7J" flexible base course with combined
curb and gutter and necessary appurtenances, and placing 11" Hot Mix Asphaltic
Concrete Surface, all as provided by said plans and specifications;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TE43:
SECTION 1.
That the work of making and constructing such improvements and contract
therefor is hereby awarded to General Construction Company, at and for the
prices stated in the proposal of the said company and as reported and recommended
by the Public Works Department. The Mayor and City Secretary are hereby directed
to execute the said contract in the name of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, and
to impress the corporate seal of the City thereon, the said Contract embracing
therein, among other things, the prices for the work.
SECTION 2.
That to provide for the payment of the indebtedness incurred by the City
of Fort Worth by said Contract, there is hereby appropriated out of available
funds which have been set aside for said purpose, an amount sufficient to pay
said indebtedness so incurred.
SECTION 3•
That the Public Works Director of the City of Fort Worth be and he is
hereby ordered and directed to file with the City Council estimates of the
cost of such improvements in accordance with the terms of the powers and
provisions of Chapter 106 of the acts of the First called session of the
Fortieth Legislature of the State of Texas, now shown as Article 1105b of Vernon's
Civil Statutes of the State of Texas, Annotated, which law has been adopted as
an amendment to and made a part of the Charter of the City of Fort Worth.
