AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PLUMBING CODE BY
ADDING PARAGRAPH 13-6-A TO PROVIDE FOR THE
REGULATION OF PIPING FOR OUTSIDE GAS LIGHTS,
REQUIRING PLUMBING PERMITS THEREFOR; PROVI-
DING A PENALTY CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SAVINGS
CLAUSE AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS:
Section 1.
That Ordinance No. 2879, being the Plumbing Code of the City of Fort
Worth,be amended by adding to Paragraph 13-6 the following:
"Paragraph 13-6-A
"The above and foregoing provisions shall not
be applicable to piping for outside gas lights around
patios and driveways, which may be installed by one
of the following numbered methods, and which shall
be installed according to the regulations hereinafter
set forth:
"l. 3/8" 0. D. Type K soft copper pipe not to
exceed 100' in length may be used for the in-
stallation of 4 outside gas lights. All fitt-
ings used on copper piping shall be flare or
compression type fittings.
"2. z" galvanized pipe not to exceed 100' in
length may be used for the installation of 8
outside gas lights. Six outside gas lights may
be installed on 200' of 2" galvanized pipe. All
fittings used on galvanized pipe installations
shall be beaded, malleable galvanized fittings.
The gas supply pipe where above ground for out-
side gas lights that are mounted on a building
shall be V galvanized pipe. No piping supplying
gas to outside gas lights shall have less than 8"
cover of earth.
"Where tie-ins or gas supply are made either at
the gas service entering the house or at the meter
loop, a stop cock shall be installed to cut off
the gas supply to the outside gas lights.
"A gas stop supplying gas to one or more lights
shall not be installed closer than 4" of the
finished ground grade and on the outside of the
building.
"No saddle or clamp fittings are to be used in any
installation of gas piping on the house side of the
meter.
"A test equivalent to a 2" column of mercury shall
be applied to the entire piping installation and if
approved by the Plumbing Inspector, the gas service
can be restored.

"A plumbing permit shall be obtained from the
Plumbing Inspector or his authorized represen-
tative. A fee shall be paid for a permit and
inspection by the applicant for all plumbing
work to be done as described in the application
for the permit. Said fee shall be paid on the
following basis:
$2.00 for extension of gas line; Fifty
Cents ($0.50) for first gas light and Twenty-
Five Cents ($0.25) for each additional gas
light."
Section 2.
Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this ordinance
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined
not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00).
Section 3.
Should any section, article, provision or part of this ordinance be
declared to be unconstitutional and void by a court of competent jurisdiction,
such decision shall in no way affect the validity of any of the remaining parts
of this ordinance unless the part held unconstitutional or void is inseparable
from and indispensable to the operation of the remaining parts. The City
Council hereby declares that it would have passed those parts of this ordinance
which are valid and omitted any parts which may be unconstitutional if it had
known that such parts were unconstitutional at the time of the passage of this
ordinance.
Section 4.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from
and after the date of its passage and publication as provided by law.
