HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 21844-08-2015 ORDINANCE NO. 21.844-08-2015 AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE ESTIMATED CEIPTS AND APPIZOPRIATIONS IN THE GRANTS FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $140,384.00, SUBJECT TO RECEIPT OF REIMBURSEMENT FUNDS FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, DRUG ENFORCEMENT ADMINISTRATION, FOR THE PURPOSE OF REIMBURSING OVERTIME COSTS RELATED TO THE FORT WORTH POLICE DEPARTMENT'S PARTICIPATION IN THE NORTH TEXAS HIGH INTENSITY DRUGTRAFFICKING AREA TASK FORCE GROUP 2; PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS. SECTION 1. That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for Fiscal Year 2014-2015 in the Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Grants Fund in the amount of$140,384.00, subject to receipt of reimbursement funds from the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration, for the purpose of reimbursing overtime costs related to the Fort Worth Police Department's participation in the North Texas High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force Group 2. SECTION 2. That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 21457-09-2014 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed. Authorize the execution of an Agreement with United States of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration to participate in the North Texas High Intensity ru Trafficking Area Task Force; 2. Authorize the acceptance of reimbursement funds for the overtime costs of eight officers assigned to the North Texas High Intensity r Trafficking re Task Force in the o of and . DISCUSSION: Since 1999, the City of Fort Worth has worked cooperatively with the United States a art e of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration ( ) to r s the issue r r ickin in North Texas. The North Texas High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area ( I ) Group 2 Task Force seeks to reduce the volume of narcotics and controlled substances being trafficked into and distributed from the North Texas area through aggressive detection, enforcement and r secution of individuals and enter ris s engaged in such illegal activities. The HIDTA Group 2 Task Force focuses on jor drug trafficking organizations. The Fort Worth Police Department currently has eight officers assigned to the HIDTA Group 2 Task Force. The City of Fort Worth will be reimbursed by the DEA for overtime x s related to the officers' participation in the HIDTA Group 2 Task Force in amount of Indirect costs are not allowable expenses under this Agreement. The City of Fort Worth is not required to provide matching funds.
