HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 2207 ORDINANCE NO. 2 2-07 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 68 OF ORDINANCE NO. 1692, SAME BEING THE TRAFFIC CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, BY CHANGING SAID SECTION AS SHOWN BELOW, AND BY ADDING THERETO SECTION 68-a; PROVIDING THAT MOTOR BUSES SHALL STOP FOR THE PURPOSE OF PICKING UP OR DISCHARG- ING PASSENGERS ONLY AT PLACES DESIGNATED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AND MARKED BY THE INDIVIDUAL OR ORGANIZATION IN CHARGE OF THE OPERATION OF SAID MDTOR BUSES; PROVIDING THE MANNER IN WHICH SAID MOTOR BUSES SHALL STOP AT SUCH DESIGNATED PLACES; DEFINING TERMS; REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERENITH; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF; AND PROVIDING THE EFFECTIVE DATE THERE- OF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Section 68 of Ordinance No. 1692 be amended so that said section shall read as follows: SECTION 68. - MOTOR BUSES STOPPING. All stops by motor buses within the City of Fort Worth for the purpose of taking on or discharging passengers shall be made only at locations designated by the Chief of Police of the City of Fort Worth and marked as bus stops by the individual or organization in charge of the operation of such motor buses; and before making any stop for the purpose of taking on or dis- charging passengers, motor buses shall pull in as near the street curb upon the right-hand side of the motor bus making said stop as possible, and shall stop as near said right-hand curb as possible; and, when a motor bus is making such a stop, such motor bus shall stop in such a place as to interfere with the vehicular traffic on the street on which said motor bus is traveling as little as possible; but no part of any motor bus shall be stopped so as to obstruct traffic on any intersecting street except when such stops shall be necessary for the purpose of protecting life or property. SECTION II. That Section 68--a to be added to Ordinance No. 1692 shall read as follows: SECTION 68-a. The term "motor bus" when used in this or- dinance shall mean any trackless vehicle operated for hire upon a regular schedule over a defined route, which said defined route lies entirely within the corporate limits of the City of Fort Worth, Texas. SECTION III. That this ordinance shall be cumulative of all the provisions in Or- dinance No. 1692 and any other ordinances of the City of Fort Worth relat- ing to motor buses, except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such provisions, in which instances said conflicting provisions are expressly repealed. SECTION IV. Any person violating any provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed s guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not less than Ten Dollars ($10.00) and not more than Two Hun- dred Dollars ($200.00). SECTION V. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage and publication as required by law.
