M&C G-6803 - Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) Grant. Mr. Kenneth H. Jones
Jr. , an attorney in the City of Fort Worth who had previously presided as
President of the Tarrant Council Drug and Alcohol Abuse Program recommended to
Council that various service providers of Drug .abuse Programs in Tarrant County
be coordinated. Councilman Vance posed the question as to how coordination
could be brought about. flavor Bolen stated that coordination may be obtained by
examining current services and bringing providers together so service
duplication can be eliminated.
Councilman Williams questioned the amount of funds that the City would be
responsible for providing in order to establish the program. Chief Windham
stated that the grant amount of $345, 199 had been reduced to 281 ,000, with
S80,000 provided in federal funds, leaving local funding at an amount of 201 ,000
instead of 265, 199.
FISC C-9832 - City of Fort Worth Participation in the Trinity River Corridor
Interjurisdictional Management Program. Mr. Harman requested that this M&C be
removed from the Consent Agenda. Councilman Williams was appointed by Mayor
Bolen to serve as the representative.
MSC P-1943 - One-135 foot Ladder Fire Truck for the Fire Department, per City
specification. Councilman Lancaster requested that this M&C be delayed for one
week.
M&C C-9840 - Award of Contract - Design of Fire Station Nos. 24 and 33.
Councilman Lancaster requested that this M&C be delayed for one w -n
the assumption that there are not enough available funds to compen SOFFICIAtOAD
station on Handley Drive. u u

4. CITIZEN PRESENTATION
Mr. Bob Dickey, Vice President of the Neighborhood Association of Sunset Heights
expressed his appreciation to City Council for the action that they took last
month on MSC C-8668 which proposed a zoning change in his neighborhood.
Attorney A.Y. Collins requested that City Council table an ordinance regarding
Economic Sanctions Against South Africa. The ordinance will be presented in
behalf of the Human Relations Commission. The ordinance was drafted by the Cit:
of Houston.
