The purpose of the Pre-Council Conference held prior to a
regular City Council Meeting is to allow the Mayor and
Councilmembers to discuss informally items on the agenda and to
secure information from the City Manager and the staff.
Although the meeting is open to the public, citizens are
requested to reserve comments and questions for the subsequent
Council meeting so they will be a part of the public record.

ITEM REFERRED T0:
1) Status Report By Special Crime Committee of Fort Worth Chamber
of Commerce
Wetherby: Why is Fort Worth number two in crime in the state? (G.K.Mannis:
It took us some years to get up to staff, now need to adjust the
laws, like .otolen property to help the force.)
Lancaster: Gear up? How? (Mannis: Look at growth and population ratio to
officers, and how to retain officers.)
Wetherby: What statutes need up grading? (Mannis: Fencing laws not adequate.)
Wetherby: Can we have TML make it a priority this session? (Herchert: Want
to look at specifics, can be helpful to come up with a proposed
bill.)
Lancaster: Wants to use this as a starting point to identify issues that impact
crime, and how resources at the state and federal levels are dis-
tributed.)
Bolen: We as a Council need to be more active on the state and national
level.
