HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 16734-12-2005Ordinance No. T.3L~-o~QS` AN ORDINANCE INCREASING APPROPRIATIONS IN THE GRANTS FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $133,460 FROM IN-KIND SERVICES FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING A REQURIED MATCH FOR THE INSTITUTE OF MUSEUM AND LIBRARY SERVICES GRANT FOR THE FORT WORTH PUBLIC LIBRARY MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1 That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for Fiscal Year 2005- 2006 and in the Budget of the City Manager there shall also be increased appropriations in the Grants Fund in the amount of $133,460 from in-kind services for the purpose of funding a required match for the Institute of Museum and Library Services grant for the Fort Worth Public Library SECTION 2. That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 16582 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed. SECTION 4 This ordinance shall take effect upon adoption.. APPROVED AS TO FORM AND LEGALITY Assists i Attorney ADOPTED AND EFFECTIVE. ~ 2.CPJ~-~ 4r o~r ~~- Page 1 of 2 City of Fort Worth, Texas Mayor and Council Communication COUNCIL ACTION Approved on 12/20/2005 Ordinance No 16734-12 2005 DATE Tuesday December 20 2005 LOG NAME 84MUSE REFERENCE NO *G-15041 SUBJECT Authorization to Use In-Kind Services as a Required Match for a Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the Fort Worth Public Library and Adopt the Appropriation Ordinance RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council 1 Authorize the use of $133 460 in-kind services as a required match of this grant; and 2 Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the Grant Fund .by $133 460 DISCUSSION On October 19 2004 (M&C G-14551) authorized the acceptance of a grant in the amount of $233 619 from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) for the Fort Worth Public Library The grant was a collaborative effort with the Fort Worth Independent School District, the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame the Log Cabin Village the Cattle Raiser's Museum Imagination Celebration and the Tarrant County Storyteller's Guild A match of $133 460 was required for in-kind services from the Library and Partners for this two-year grant. The Library's $55 414 share was provided through in-kind labor by staff and volunteers, and by providing meeting room space for workshops and concerts related to the grant. The Partners' $78 046 share was provided through in-kind labor consulting fees, museum passes and tour materials. The 'Museums Utilizing Storytelling for Education (MUSE) project is a two-year grant to enhance the public's knowledge of the cultural and historical resources of the Fort Worth community through free museum visits storytellers in schools and libraries and an interactive MUSE web site Grant funds are allocated for programming workshops, training for participants contracting for storytellers-in-residence underwriting free museum passes, providing school buses for library and museum visits, supplies, promotional events and web design FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION The Finance Director certifies that this action will have no material effect on City funds. http.//www cfwnet.org/council~acket/Reports/mc~rint.asp 12/21/2005 Page 2 of 2 TO Fund/AccountlCenters FROM Fund/AccountlCenters Submitted for Citv Manager's Office by: Libby Watson (6183) Originating Department Head.
