AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LICENSING AMID REGULATING
OF ITIlNERANT VENDORS OF GOODS, WARES AND BIDRCHANDISE AND
PROVIDING A PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMISSIONERS OF THE CITY
OF FORT WORTH:
Sec. 1. That no person, firm or corporation shall engage in the business of an
itinerant vendor in the City of Fort worth without having first obtain-
ed a license from the Assessor and collector of taxes as hereinafter
provided.
Sec. 2. That the words ITINERANT VENDOR shall be construed to mean and include
all persons, firms or corporations, both principal and agent, who en-
gage in a temporary or transient business in the City of Fort Worth,
selling goods, wares or merchandise, or who for the purpose of carrying
on such business hires, leases or occupies any room, building or struc-
ture for the exhibition or sale of such goods, wares or merchandise, and
the person, firm or corporation so engaged shall not be relieved from
the provisions of this Ordinance by reason of being associated temporarily
with any local dealer, trader, merchant or auctioneer by conducting such
temporary or transient business in connection with or as a part of the
business of any local dealer, trader, merchant or auctioneer,$--*'
Sec. 3. That any person, firm or corporation desiring to engage in the business
of itinerant vendor as herein defined may obtain a license therefor from
the Assessor and Collector of Taxes of the City of Fort 'north upon paying
to the said Assessor and Collector of Tams a license fee in the sum of
050.00 and executing bond to the City of Fort Worth in the sum of $5,000.00
with two or more good and sufficient sureties thereon, one of whom shall
be an approved surety company doing business in the State of Texas accept-
able to the Board of Commissioners of the City of Fort `North, and the other
surety shall be a resident of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, and said bond
shall be conditioned for the faithful observance of the Charter and Ordin-
ances of the City of Fort Worth.
Seo. 4. That permission to conduct the business of itinerant vendor under said-
license shall terminate one month after the issuance of said license un-
less the person, firm or corporation securing the same shall pay to the
Assessor and Collector of Taxes the sum of ';5.00 for Bach additional month
he desires to continue in the business of itinerant vendor.
Seo. 5. That any person, firm or corporation or any officer, agent or employee
thereof, who shall engage in the business of an itinerant vendor as here-
in defined without having secured a license for the purpose as herein pro-
vided, or who, having secured such license shall thereafter fail to pay
the sum required herein, shell be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and up-
on conviction thereof shall be subject to a fine of not less than ;50.00
nor more than $200.00, and each and every day that any such person, firm
or corporation shall engage in such business without such license shall
constitute a separate offense.
Seo. 6. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and five days publication as required by law.

I hereby certify that the above and foregoing Ordinance was duly
presented and unanimously passed and adopted by the Board of Com-
missioners of the City of Fort Worth, at a session of said Board
held Tuesday May 16th, A. D. 1916.
