AN ORDINANCE INCREASING ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND
APPROPRIATIONS IN THE SPECIAL TRUST FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF
$1 340 FROM AVAILABLE FUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING THE
FIRE SAFETY EDUCATION HOUSE'S 'LEARN NOT TO BURN" CURRICULUM,
MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1
That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for Fiscal Year 2004-
2005 in the Budget of the City Manager there shall also be increased estimated receipts and
appropriations in the Special Trust Fund in the amount of $1 340 from available funds for the
purpose of funding the Fire Safety Education House's 'Learn Not To Burn" curriculum.
SECTION 2.
That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid,
inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or
judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this
ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3.
That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 16061 and all other ordinances and
appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance
are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said
conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed.
SECTION 4
This ordinance shall take effect upon adoption.

Approve the Acceptance of Five Monetary Donations for the Fire Safety Education Trust and Adopt
Appropriation Ordinance
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council
1 Accept donations in the amount of $1 340• $1 000 from Cutting Edge Haunted House $230 from
Harris Methodist Southwest, $50 from Laurie & Michael Heinz, $35 from Wedgewood South Neighborhood
Association and $25 from Margaret Hanson and
2. Adopt appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the Special Trust
Fund by $1 340 from available funds.
DISCUSSION
The Fire Safety Education Trust received donations totaling $1 340 The purpose of the Fire Safety House
program is to enforce the Learn Not to Burn curriculum that is taught in the elementary schools
The primary goal of that program is to teach children and/or adults how to test the door for heat, when to
crawl out of a room and the importance of having two defined exit routes in the event of a fire Also taught
is the importance of sufficient smoke alarms and their placement in homes developing and adhering to a
schedule for battery replacement, basic kitchen safety and how to call 9-1 1 in the event of an emergency
Funds from this trust will be used to replenish or purchase items such as
Clown makeup wigs props and sound equipment;
Fire Safety House supplies and minor repairs
Laptops and PowerPoint projectors for presentations
Display boards for large meetings and
Items needed to support smoke alarm drives (screw drivers step ladders etc.)
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION
The Finance Director certifies that upon approval of the above recommendation and adoption of the
appropriation ordinance funds wilt be available in the current operating budget, as appropriated of the
Special Trust Fund
