Douglas Rademaker, Director DOE and Marc A. Ott, Assistant City Manager FROM: Miguel A. Domenech, P.E. DATE: December 18, 2003 RE: DESIGN FEE AMENDMENT NO. 3, BERRY STREET STREETSCAPE PROJECT FROM WAITS AVENUE TO FOREST PARK, DOE NO. 4227, T&PW POJECT NO. C115-020115023226 The proposed amendment will allow TranSystems Corporation Consultants to provide addi- tional engineering services on the project as requested by the City. During the course of design, the City requested that TranSystems Corporation Consultants augment the limits of the project to include the south side of Berry Street between McCart and Forest Park. The original limits included the northern portion of Berry Street but ex- cluded the southern segment due to budgetary limitations. Amendment No. 1 provided compensation for the services of a professional geotechnical en- gineering firm to carry out subsurface testing and make recommendations to aid in the design of the new pavement on Berry Street, in compliance with the Texas Department of Transpor- tation. Amendment No. 2 allowed TranSystems to hire a sub-surface utility contractor to determine the exact location of underground utilities in order to avoid costly delays and additional costs associated with encountering conflicts during the construction phase. TranSystems Corporation Consultants has requested a fee of $20,285.00 for the additional services to be provided thereby increasing the contract fee from $287,346.20 to $307,631.20. I believe this fee is fair and reasonable for the additional services to be provided. Please authorize this additional design fee by your signatures on the attached contract amendment form. cc: Tony Sholola, P.E., Program Manager, DOE Christa Sharpe, Manager, T&PW T&PW File ; ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT THE CITY OF FORT WORTH * 1000 THROCKMORTON STREET * FORT WORTH, TEXAS 76102-6,311 (817) 610 - (817) 871-7941 * FAx(817) 871-7854 CL Printed on recycled paper
