AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT AVENUE "B" FROM COLLARD STREET TO WESLEYAN STREET AND THE EAST-WEST ALLEY IN BLOCK 3, POLYTECHNIC HEIGHTS ADDITION TO THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TARRANT COUNTY, TEXAS, BE VACATED, ABANDONED AND CLOSED; PROVIDING FOR THE REVERSION OF THE INTEREST OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH IN SAID LAND; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Avenue "B" from Collard Street to Wesleyan Street be and the same is hereby closed, abandoned and permanently vacated as a street or public thoroughfare of any kind or char- acter*whatever, save and except that the full width of Avenue "B" be retained as an easement for an existing six inch water main; and that the east-west alley in Block 3, Polytechnic Heights Addition to the City of Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, be and the same is hereby vacated, closed and permanently abandoned as an alley or public thoroughfare of any kind or character. SECTION 2. That the interest of the City of Fort Worth in the fee to the land in said street and alley is hereby released and shall revert to the adjacent owner of the fee as provided by law. SECTION 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here- with are hereby repealed. SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage. APPRO '9_VPD, S TO .ORM AND LEGALITY: City Attorney 4+� City of Fort Worth, Texas ' Mayor and Council Communication' r- .y, DATE REFERENCE SUBJECT: Proposed Closings : Avenue B, PAGE NUMBER from Collard to Wesleyan Street; Alley - 1/31/66 1 PZ-172 Block 3, Polytechnic Heights lof Texas Wesleyan College, owner of all adjoining property, has requested vacation of Avenue B from Wesleyan Street to Collard Street, and the east-west alley in Block 3, Polytechnic Heights Addition, as shown on the attached map. Abandon- ment of the street and alley will permit construction of a dormitory on Block 3, Polytechnic Heights Addition. The private utility companies, the Public Works, Water, Traffic Engineering and Planning Departments have reviewed the request and do not object to the vaca- tions, provided the full width of Avenue B be retained as an easement for an existing six-inch water main. The City Plan Commission has reviewed the request of Texas Wesleyan College and recommends adoption of the ordinance that has been prepared vacating the alley and Avenue B as requested, subject to retaining the full width of Avenue B as an easement and replatting Blocks 3 and 4, Polytechnic Heights Addition.
