HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 3115 ORDINANCE NO. � AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 7, PARAGRAPH 7-6, OF ORDINANCE NO. 2978, BEING AN ORDINANCE GOVERNING AND REGULATING THE INSTALLATION OF PIPES, FIXTURES, APPURTENANCES AND APPLIANCES FOR WATER, SEWAGE AND GAS IN THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, KNOWN AS THE PLUMBING CODE, BY ADDING TO SECTION 7, PARAGRAPH 7-6, A PROVISION ALLOWING THE USE OF ASBESTOS-CEMENT PIPE OF CERTAIN SIZES FOR DRY VENTS UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS; MAKING SUCH AMENDMENT AND ADDITION CUMU- LATIVE OF THE PLUMBING CODE: PROVIDING A SAVING CLAUSE: PRO- VIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF; PROVIDING THAT EACH DAY OF A VIOLATION BE A SEPARATE OFFENSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: 1. That hereinafter, Section 7, Paragraph 7-6 of Ordinance No. 2978 shall read as follows, to-wit: Paragraph 7-6. Waste and Vent Lines All pipe and fittings used for waste and vent lines in buildings shall be constructed of materials as follows: —Cast iron soil pipe and fittings shall be of grades known to the trade as "Service Weight" conforming to A.S.T.M. Specifications. Duriron pipe and fittings or other approved acid resisting material may be used in this construction. Hard tempered copper tubing of type K,L, and M and cast brass (solder) drainage fittings of 1 1/2w and larger size only, conforming to A.S.T.M. Specifications, may be used in this construction. Threaded pipe used in waste and vent construction shall be of grade known to the trade as "Genuine Wrought Iron", and to be galvanized inside and outside. All fittings used in wrought iron waste construction shall be cast iron galvanized, recessed, threaded drainage fittings, known as "Durham" pattern. Fittings used in vent lines in wrought iron construction may be standard malleable galvanized threaded fittings (above the water line of fixture) up to and including 2", and above 2"may be standard cast iron galvanized threaded fittings. Cast iron threaded pipe of 2" diameter or less may be used for vents only. Fittings for cast iron threaded pipe4 for vents (above the water line of fixture) may be standard galvanized malleable fittings or cast iron fittings. Lead pipe used for waste, vent or flush pipe must not be of lighter weight than that known to the trade as "Extra Light". Brass pipe used for waste or vent lines as provided for in this ordinance, shall be of iron pipe size and weight with standard thread. Lead soil, waste and vent pipe shall not be lighter than "D" or "XL" weight, as shown in the following table. Inside Diameter Wall Thickness Nominal Wt. All clay pibe and fittings used for house sewers shall be No. 1 Vitrified clay pipe which shall meet all the require- ments of the A.S.T.M. Specifications. All concrete pipe fittings used for house sewers shall be No. 1 concrete pipe which will meet all the requirements of the A.S.T.3G Specifi- cations. All bends for concrete sewer pipe and fittings shall have been inspected and stamped by an independent laboratory, satisfactory to the City Plumbing Inspector at the expense of the supplier. Asbestos-cement pipe of 3" and 4" sizes may be used for dry vents from a point 6" above the overflow of the highest fixture on a stack in one story dwellings only but shall not be used fftire-vent tie-ins. All fittings used with this pipe shall be cast Iron soil fittings poured with lead and calked as herein specified for soil pipe joints. This asbestos cement pipe shall meet] Federal Specifications, SS-P-351 (1940) and subsequent revisions. 2. This ordinance as amended hereinabove shall be and is hereby made cumulative of the provisions of Ordinance No. 2976, governing and regulating the installation of pipes, fixtures, appurtenances and appliances for wateft, sewage and gas in the City of Fort Worth known as the Plumbing Code. 3. If any section, part of a section, or provision of any section of this ordinance shall be held to be void, ineffective or unconstitutional for any cause whatsoever, this shall in no way affect the validity of the re- maining sections and provisions of this ordinance, which shall remain in full force and effect. The City Council would not have passed any sections, parts of sections, or provisions of any sections of this ordinance that were unconstitutional, void or ineffective if they had known they were unconstitution- al, void or ineffective at the time of adopting this ordinance. 4. Any person, firm or corporation who violates any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine not to exceed the amount of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) each day during which a violation continues to be a separate offense. 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage and publication as required by law. APPROVED AS TO FORM: Assistant City Attorney
