DISCUSSION
1 to City Secretary Contract No 29785 with
to Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Contract
thereby increasing the total contract amount
On January 20 2004 by M&C C-19937 the City Council authorized the City Manager to execute an
engineering agreement with Transystems Corporation Consultants for Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation
Contract LXIX Village Creek Drainage Basin to prepare plans and specifications for a fee not to exceed
$248 784
Amendment No 1 provides for the design of an additional 1 340 linear feet of 8-inch sanitary sewer along
David Strickland Road Vista Farley Road and Laster Road The sanitary sewer will connect to a lift station
located at the nearby Waterfront at Enchanted Bay development, which will provide service to the residents
in the Sun Valley neighborhood This amendment also includes the design for the replacement of
approximately 2,500 linear feet of existing water line in Kay Drive to allow installation of a new 54-inch
sanitary sewer line. and the acquisition of 12 easements for the project. The engineer will also design three
junction structures to connect between the two existing large diameter sewers to facilitate future
maintenance These services were not included in the original contract and are the result of further detailed
evaluation by the engineer at City staffs request.
City staff considers the proposed fee of $56 480 to be fair and reasonable for the additional services to be
performed
Transystems Corporation Consultants is in compliance with the City's M/WBE Ordinance by committing to
an additional 45% M/WBE participation on this Amendment No 1
