ENDORSING THE EDUCATIONAL ALIGNMENT FOR YOUNG. CHILDREN'S STRATEGIC
PLAN
WHEREAS, the National League ot'Cities has charged the Educational Alignment for Young Clifldren(EA.YC)
with creating a Strategic Plan that would result in strong, interconnected childhood education systerns fiocusing on children
from birth througli eight years old.;mid
WHEREAS,Fort Worth is home to many hig),i quafity preschool prograins; and
WHEREAS, it is desiraNe,to promote the healthy developineilt and education of children to increasw the
likelihood that they will achieve educational success by the end of third grade;and
WHEREAS,in 2013,the EAYC initiative in Fort Worth originated firorn a cooperative effort between the
National League of Cities and the City of Fort Word-i;and
WHEREAS,the EA.YCs Work hig(3roul)studied strategies for cliange and identified those strategies that
might benefit the City of Fort Worth-, and
WHEREAS,the EAYC has created a Strategic Plan entitled"A Planfior the Next 1,000 Days,"which includes
F' for improving in the areas of assessment,and data sharing,profvss onal development, farnfly engagenient, and
poveniance;and
WHEREAS,the EAYC's Strategic Plan will guide of to 4riprovethe lives of young c1nidiren and their
families,;and
WHEREAS,these goals are consisleiiit with the C.1ty(A'Fort Worth's onping coininiltnent to
early educabonl and
WHEREAS,these efforts are supponed by a coalition of early learning professionals representing
more than 20 orgarnization&
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OFT CITY OF FO
RT WORTH, TEXAS, THAT:

1 The City Manager is directed to implement any measures necessary to supporttlie goals cont
