BRADSHAw Summary of Amendments The Health Department in cooperation with representatives of the Tarrant County Veterinary Association and the Humane. Society have studied the Animal Control Ordinance in detail during the last few months. As a result of this study the following amendments concerning animals and fowl are proposed: Section 7-17. On December 20, 1965, (M&C G-888) , the City Council approved an increase in pound fees from $3 per head for large animals to $7.50. These fees have been in force since that date but have never been made a part of the City Code. Section 7-20. This amendment exempts blind persons from paying the license fee for their "guide dogs" but does not exempt them from obtaining the license or from the vaccination requirement. Also, it exempts, for a period not exceeding thirty days, non-residents of the city, while traveling through Fort Worth, from obtaining a license. Section 7-26. This amendment provides for the confinement in a building or a secured enclosure of a female dog in season to prevent it from coming into contact with another animal except for planned breeding. Section 7-27. This amendment provides that no person shall hinder, resist or oppose animal control personnel, in the performance of their duties. In addition, the pound fees stated in this section are changed from $1 to $2 as authorized in M&C G-888. Recommendation It is recommended that the attached proposed amendments to the City Code concerning animals and fowl be adopted by the Cit Council. HDM:j p Attach.
