The Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, owner of all abutting property,
has requested that the City vacate the east-west alleys in Blocks 9, 10 and 11,
Seminary Hill Addition, as shown on the attached map.
Subject rights-of-way were acquired by dedication. Their status is as follows:
Block 9, open; Block 10, not open; Block 11, partially open. If this request is
granted the applicant intends to utilize the vacated right-of-way for off-street
parking and long range development.
City Departments and private utility companies have reviewed this request and
have no objection to this vacation, provided the applicant plats the vacated
rights-of-way with adjoining properties and retains the vacated rights-of-way
as utility easements.
The City Plan Commission has reviewed this request and recommends adoption of
an ordinance vacating the public rights-of-way as requested, subject to the
conditions recommended above by the City Departments and private utility
companies. The applicant has submitted a replat which incorporates the
conditions requested by the Plan Commission.
Recommendation
It is recommended that an ordinance be adopted vacating subject rights-of-way
as recommended by the City Plan Commission.
