A" L_r-!IL;CTf: City attorney City of Fort Worth, Texas '• r„ Mayor and Cound l Communida DATE REFERENCE SUBJECT: ADJUSTMENT OF BOUNDARIES BETWEEN PAGE NUMBER 10/7/63 PZ-77 FORT WORTH AND WHITE SETTLEMENT lof 2 The problem of establishing logical municipal boundaries between the Cities of Fort Worth and White Settlement has been considered upon a number of occasions in recent years. A recommendation of the City Plan Commission in March, 1963, regarding boundary alignments in areas both east and west of the City of White Settlement was not acted upon by the City Council pending the outcome of further studies of the areas. (M&C's PZ-54 of March 18, 1963, and PZ-58 of March 25, 1963) Extended negotiations have concluded in a proposed. realignment of boundaries, which is similar to the proposed realignment recommended in March. The adjust- ments, ,as shown on the attached map, include the exchange of certain lands in three areas : (1) A 332.80 acre tract east of Highway 183 (shown in brown); i (2) A 21.12 acre tract west of White Settlement (shown in brown); and, (3) A 386.56 acre tract west of the present White Settlement boundaries to the proposed right-of-way of Loop 217 (shown in yellow). Both areas (1) and (2) are proposed to become a part of Fort Worth. Area (3) would become a part of the City of White Settlement. The proposed realignment appears to be beneficial to the City of Fort Worth because the lands to be annexed may be readily served by City utilities and other services, will result in a more logical city boundary contiguous to Highway 183, andChald a market value substantially more than that of the area to be released. White 'Settlement gains lands which can be easily served by its facilities. City of Fort Worth services on a regular basis have not been extended to the area to be released by Fort Worth. In order to realign the municipal boundaries between the municipalities as proposed, it is recommended: (1) That an ordinance be adopted discontinuing from the City of Fort Worth that area lying west of White Settlement as indicated in yellow on the attached map, and abandoning the interest of the City of Fort Worth in the extraterritorial jurisdiction over the area discontinued, and, OFFICIAL RECORD CITY SECRETARY FT. WORTD, TM DATE REFERENCE suBJECT: ADJUSTMENT OF BOUNDARIES BETWEEN PAGE NUMBER 10/7/63 PZ-77 FORT WORTH AND WHITE SETTLEMENT 2 of 2 (2) That a resolution be adopted setting a .public hearing on October 21, 1963, and instructing the City Secretary to publish notice of such hearing for the purpose of initiating proceedings for the annexation of Areas (1) and (2), indicated in brown, to the City of Fort Worth in accordance with the provisions of the Municipal Annexation Law enacted by the recent session of the State Legislature. The boundary adjustment described herein was again recommended by the City Plan Commission on September 11, 1963. City Council action on the proposed realignment of municipal boundaries is requested.
