Mr. Aaron Rashti, owner of adjoining property, has requested the vacation M0 ONEY
of Pierce Street from Rutan Street east a distance of 481 feet, and Rutan REE
Street between blocks 10 and 12 and blocks 11 and 12, Kaywood Heights Addi-
tion, as shown on the attached map. The applicant is planning development
of the property as an apartment complex.
Private utility companies and City departments have reviewed the request and
do not object to the proposed vacation of Pierce Street, but advise against
vacating Rutan Street. The Public Works and Traffic Engineering Departments
report that vacation of Rutan Street would restrict local traffic circulation
needed in the area and create a drainage problem.
The City Plan Commission has reviewed the requested closings and recommends
adoption of an ordinance that has been prepared vacating Pierce Street,
provided the owner file a replat of the property retaining Rutan and vacat-
ing Pierce Street. The conditions of the Plan Commission are acceptable to
the applicant and a subdivision plat retaining Rutan Street has been filed
which is acceptable to the City Plan Commission.
City Council action on the Plan Commission recommendation is requested.
