HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 7831 ORDINANCE NO. *7 S ,3 1 AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING REVENUE OF THE CITY OF THE SUM OF $16.053.52 NECESSARY TO FINANCE AN ADDITIONAL POLICE OFFICER FOR THE SCHOOL LIAISON PROGRAM; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR APPRO- PRIATION ORDINANCES; REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CON- FLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS. SECTION 1. That the City Manager of the City of Fort Worth shall be provided with such revenue as may be secured from various sources included in Ordinance No. 7787 and in the Budget of the City Manager; and in addition thereto there is hereby appropriated a sum of $16,053.52 from the increased Estimated Budgeted Revenue of the General Fund for the purpose of providing an additional Police Officer for the School Liaison Program, which said appropriated sum the City Manager shall be authorized to transfer to the Police Department. SECTION 2. Should any part, portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid or inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way affect the remaining portions, parts sections or parts of sections of this ordinance, which provisions shall be, remain and continue to be in full force and effect. SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 7787, but all other ordinances and appropriations for which provision has been heretofore made are hereby expressly repealed if in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance. SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage, and it is so ordained. Mayor and Council Communication BAILIFF SMITH DATE REFERENCE SUBJECT: Additional Police Officer for PAGE NUMBER School Liaison Program BROWN 10/17/78 G-3970 1 of 1 IVORY Background Currently the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) has three area offices which serve as a liaison between school officials and the Fort Worth Police Department. Each office is staffed by a police officer, an advisor and a secretary. Under the terms of this arrangement, the FWISD reimburses the City for the costs of two of the officers. The FWISD also pays the salaries of the advisors and secretaries and furnishes office space and transportation for each ifficer. The Bnard of Education has approved the addition of a fourth liaison office and has requested that the City authorize a police officer pO..LtIOn tOr L11J..S program beglnulug October 1, 1978. Funding The budgeted costs for this proposal are as follows: $13,848.00 - Salary of one police officer 2,205.52 - Departmental Support Expense $16,053.52 - Total This total amount will be recovered by the City through the General Fund Revenue Account "Reimbursement from Other Agencies". Recommendation It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached supplemental approp- riation ordinance appropriating $16,053.52 from increased Estimated Budgeted Revenue of the General Fund.
