HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015/10/20-Minutes-City Council-Executive Session CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING CLOSED EXECUTIVE SESSION OCTOBER 20,2015 After proper notice given pursuant to the Texas Open Meetings Act, Mayor Price adjourned the Council meeting of the Fort Worth City Council at 4:32 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, to convene into the Special City Council Meeting for the closed Executive Session in the Pre- Council Chamber of the Fort Worth Municipal Building. Present: Mayor Betsy Price Council Member W.B. "Zim" Zimmerman, District 3 Council Member Cary Moon, District 4 Council Member Gyna Bivens, District 5 Council Member Jungus Jordan, District 6 Council Member Dennis Shingleton, District 7 Council Member Kelly Allen Gray, District 8 Council Member Ann Zadeh, District 9 Absent: Mayor Pro tem Salvador Espino,District 2 Staff Present: David Cooke, City Manager Sarah Fullenwider, City Attorney Mary J. Kayser, City Secretary Fernando Costa, Assistant City Manager Jay Chapa,Assistant City Manager Valerie Washington, Assistant City Manager Gerald Pruitt, Deputy City Attorney Peter Vaky, Deputy City Attorney Laetitia Brown, Law Department Tyler Wallach, Law Department Doug Wiersig, Director of TPW Robert Sturns, Economic Development Todd Blomstrom, TPW Dana Burghdoff, Planning and Development Randle Harwood, Planning and Development Mattie Parker,Mayor's Chief of Staff Doug Black, Law Department Joel Fitzgerald, Police Chief Kenneth Wayne Dean, Police With a quorum of the City Council Members present, the Fort Worth City Council convened into closed Executive Session at 4:38 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, in the Pre-Council Chamber of the Fort Worth Municipal Building to discuss matters pertaining to the following: CITY OF FORT WORTH,TEXAS SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING OCTOBER 20, 2015 PAGE 2 of 2 1. Seek the advice of its attorneys concerning the following pending or contemplated litigation or other matters that are exempt from public disclosure under Article X, Section 9 of the Texas State Bar Rules and as authorized by Section 551.071 of the Texas Government Code: a. Legal issues concerning liability under the Texas Tort Claims Act; b. Legal issues concerning the zoning process in the Stockyards; c. Legal issues concerning capital improvement projects; and d. Legal issues concerning any item listed on today's City Council meeting agendas 2. Deliberate the purchase, sale, lease or value of real property in accordance with Section 551.072 of the Texas Government Code. Deliberation in an open meeting would have a detrimental effect on the position of the City in negotiations with a third party; and 3. Deliberate concerning economic development negotiations as authorized by Section 551.087 of the Texas Government Code; and 4. Deliberate the deployment, or specific occasions for implementation, of security personnel or devices, in accordance with Section 551.076 of the Texas Government Code; and There was no formal action taken by the City Council on the items discussed during the Executive Session and with no further business to be conducted, Mayor Price adjourned the meeting at 5:24 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2015.
