Ordinance No ~ ~~,+'~ ~'~~~ I ~ ~4J AN ORDINANCE INCREASING ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE SPECIAL TRUST FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $16 000 FROM AVAILABLE FUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING A KRIMESITE IMAGER FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH TEXAS SECTION 1 That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for Fiscal Year 2005- 2006 in the Budget of the City Manager there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Special Trust Fund in the amount of $16,000 from available funds for the purpose of funding a Krimesite Imager for the Police Department. SECTION 2 That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3 That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No 16582 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed SECTION 4 This ordinance shall take effect upon adoption APP OVED AS O ORM AND LEGALITY ssistant City Attorney U ADOPTED AND EFFECTIVE. ,(~ pUeevl b 2-r' I ~ ~©~ ~. City of Fort Worth, Texas Mayor and Council Communication COUNCIL ACTION Approved on 11/1/2005 Ordinance No. 16681 11-2005 DATE Tuesday November 01 2005 LOG NAME 35SHARMA REFERENCE NO G-14989 SUBJECT Authorize the Acceptance of a Monetary Donation from the Sharma Family to Purchase a Krimesite Imager for the Police Department and Adopt Appropriation Ordinance RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council: 1 Authorize the City Manager or his designee to accept a monetary donation of $16 000 from the Sharma Family to fund the procurement of a Krimesite Imager and 2. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the Special Trust Fund by $16 000 from available funds. DISCUSSION The Sharma. Family has generously donated $16 000 to the Fort Worth Police Department to specifically fund the purchase of a Krimesite Imager The family's donation of the $16 000 is in appreciation of the Fort Worth Police Department's efforts in a particular homicide investigation. The Krimesite Imager is specialized equipment that utilizes Reflected Ultraviolet Imaging technology to locate fingerprints and a broad spectrum of biological fluids that are invisible to the naked eye This technology gives the Police Department the ability to process a crime scene in anon-destructive manner The technology also improves the efficiency of locating evidence by capturing photographic images of untreated fingerprint evidence The Krimesite Imager will be a tremendous asset toward enhancing the Department's investigative techniques. The donation will cover the cost of the Krimesite Imager 30 watt 254nm UV Light Source and a Training Certification Course. FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION The Finance Director certifies that upon approval of the above recommendations and adoption of the attached appropriation ordinance, funds will be available in the current operating budget, as appropriated of the Special Trust Fund. The Police Department will be responsible for the collection of these funds.
