FOR PAVEMENT RECONSTRUCTION AND SANITARY SEWER REPLACEMENT ON SAUNDERS ROAD FROM MARIE JONES TO EAST LOOP 820 SOUTH RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council: 1. Authorize the transfer of $20,583 from the Water and Sewer Operating Fund to the Sewer Capital Project Fund; and 2. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the Sewer Capital Project Fund in the amount of$20,583 from available funds; and 3. Authorize the City Manager to execute an engineering agreement with Wier and Associates, Inc. in the amount of $85,404 for pavement reconstruction, drainage and sanitary sewer replacement on Saunders Road from Marie Jones to East Loop 820 South. DISCUSSION: The 1998 Capital Improvement Program authorized funds for the pavement reconstruction of Saunders Road from Marie Jones to East Loop 820 South. This street is scheduled for concrete pavement reconstruction. The sanitary sewer lines are scheduled to be replaced prior to pavement reconstruction. Wier and Associates, Inc. proposes to perform the design work for a lump sum fee of $85,404. Staff considers this fee fair and reasonable for the scope of services proposed. In addition to the contract amount, $1,500 is required for sanitary sewer project management by the Department of Engineering. Wier and Associates, Inc. is in compliance with the City's M/WBE Ordinance by committing to 24% M/WBE participation. The City's goal on this project is 22%. The project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 5, Mapsco 93P.
