APPOINTMENT OF MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGE Ms. Angela Washington was introduced as the new Municipal Court Judge II. PRESENTATION AND/OR COMMUNICATIONS FROM BOARDS, COMMISSIONS, AND/OR CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEES Resolution was passed setting July 22, 1986 as the date for Zoning Hearing. III. ADMINISTRATIVE ACTION REQUESTED MSC G-6699 - RESIDENTIAL HOMESTEAD TAX EXEMPTION - Delayed One Week Mr. Lancaster: I would like to have staff do a survey of cities we compete with. MSC G-6702 - ANNEXATION - PARK NORTH ADDITION (1003.94 ACRES) - DELAYED ONE WEEK Mr. Zapata: I would like to know a little more about this. I'd like to get a report from staff to know if we're capable of taking on this much land. Mrs. Wetherby: I would like to recommend that an Informal Report be given to us before it gets to this point. Mayor Bolen: These people need to have representatives here for annexation hearings. MSC G-6705 - ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 9633, COMBINING THE POLLING PLACES FOR PRECINCT NUMBERS 1237, 1251 , AND 1300 WITH THE POLLING PLACES FOR PRECINCT NO. 1150 Mrs. Philpott, Como Resident Mrs. Philpott spoke in opposition to changing the polling place. She made reference to a promise that the polling places would be changed on paper only. Whe commented that changing the polling places would create inaccessible conditions and deter voting. Mrs. Philpott said the community had no qualms with the combining of the precincts but did have problems with taking the elderly 9 blocks away. She continued to say that it pointed to one thing--that it may cause them to lose a couple of votes. She said the Council knew black people won't go out of their way to vote. Mrs. Viola Pitts, Como Resident off�ci ec*OR� CITY 11AR�I FT. Mrs. Pitts also voiced opposition to changing the polling place. She commented that the older people could not be educated, and that if someone was sent to pick them up to vote, they would not get in their cars. MSC G-6705 was dismissed and M&C G-6710 was passed Mr. Zapata requested that the City Manager check to see where the funding for the youth gangs stood. L 1, Ta
