City of Fort Worth, Texas Mayor and Council Communication DATE REFERENCE SUBJECT: Award of Contract. - Fournier PAGE NUMBER Street Paving 1 of 2 2/13/67 C-884 Council action on the project described below is requested: Project Description Nature of work; The owner of property on the west side of Fournier Street between West Seventh and West Tenth Streets has petitioned permanent paving, curb and gutter in connection with current improvements on the Forest Park Boulevard Extension. Bids have been received for the improvement of Fournier Street on the assessment basis as requested and the low bidder is Worth Construction Company, which is also build- ing the Forest Park Boulevard Extension, Improvements will include a reinforced concrete roadway with concrete curb and gutter. Work procedure; In order to expedite construction of Fournier Street in coordination with the completion of the. Forest Park Boulevard Exten- sion, it is proposed that the contract be awarded and that a work order be issued immediately. State statutes permit construction to proceed ahead of the benefit hearing provided the hearing is held before the project is completed and accepted by the City Council. It is suggested that the benefit hearing for this project be schedule for March 6, 1967. Contact with property owners. All three property owners abutting the project have been contacted regarding the nature of the project, amount of the assessments, and paving procedures of the City. The original petitioner (Mr. . Earle Fletcher, representing Wendell Mays and Associates, with 230.95 front feet) still favors the improve- ments, the second property owner (Amon G. Carter Foundation with 98.5 front feet) does not object to the paving, and the third owner (Mr. Vanzandt Smith with 135 front feet) is opposed to the project. Because only three property owners are involved and because each has been contacted individually by staff members, no neighborhood hearing was held.
