AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND ADOPTING ESTIMATES OF THE COST OF IMPROVE-
MENTS AND OF AMOUNTS TO BE ASSESSED FOR IMPROVEMENTS ON A PORTION OF
BRENNAN AVENUE AND PORTIONS OF SUNDRY OTHER STREETS AVENUES AND
PUBLIC PLACES IN THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS; FIXING TIME AND PLACE
FOR HEARING TO THE. OWNERS OF ABUTTING PROPERTY AND TO ALL OTHERS IN-
TERESTED; DIRECTING THE CITY SECRETARY TO GIVE NOTICE OF SUCH HEARING;
AND DIRECTING THE CITY SECRETARY TO ENGROSS AND ENROLL THIS ORDINANCE
BY COPYING THE CAPTION OF SAME IN THE MINUTE BOOR OF THE CITY COUNCIL
AND BY FILING THE COMPLETE ORDINANCE IN THE APPROPRIATE ORDINANCE RE-
CORDS OF THE CITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, has heretofore or-
dered that each of the hereinafter described portions of streets, avenues and public
places in the City of Fort Worth, Texas, be improved by raising, grading and filling
same and by constructing thereon the following, to-wit:
1. BRENNAN AVENUE From the east line of Decatur
Avenue to the west line of Cold
Springs Road, known and designated as
Unit I, Project No. 104-24000-170,
a 6-inch Reinforced Concrete Pavement
with a 6-inch thick lime stabilized
subgrade on a 40-44 foot roadway, and
6-inch thick concrete drives where spec-
ified.
together with concrete curbs, gutters, driveways and incidentals to such improve-
ments on proper grade and line where same are not already so constructed, together
with storm sewers and drains and other necessary incidentals and appurtenances;
all of said improvements to be constructed as and where shown on the Plans and
in strict accordance with the Plans and Specifications therefor; and contract
therefor has been made and entered into with J. L. Bertram Construction and Engi-
neering Company; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, has caused the
Public Works Director to prepare and file estimates of the cost of such improvements
and estimates of the amount per front foot proposed to be assessed against abutting
property and the owners thereof, and such estimates have been examined, NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, THAT:
I.
Such estimates be, and they are hereby adopted and approved.
II.
It is hereby found and determined that the cost of improvements on each portion of
street, avenue and public place hereinafter described, with the amount or amounts
per front foot proposed to be assessed for such improvements against abutting pro-
perty and the owners thereof, are as follows, to-wit:
BRENNAN AVENUE From the east line of Decatur Avenue
to the west line of Cold Springs Road,
known and designated as Unit I, Project
No. 104-24000-170.
The estimated cost of improvements is $179,049.88; the estimated amount per front foot
to be assessed against abutting property and the owners thereof for concrete curb
and gutter is $1.80; the estimated amount per front foot to be assessed against abut-
ting property and the owners thereof for pavement is $7.56; the estimated amount
per square foot to be assessed against abutting property and the owners thereof for
6-inch thick concrete drives is $.53 per square foot; the total estimated amount
per front foot to be assessed against abutting property and the owners thereof is
$9.36 plus drives where specified.
IV.
The City Secretary is hereby directed to engross and enroll this ordinance
by copying the caption of same in the Minute Book of the City Council and by
filing the complete ordinance in the appropriate Ordinance Records of this City.
V.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and
after the date of its passage. p�

UNIT NO. 1: BRENNAN AVENUE FROM DECATUR AVENUE TO COLD SPRINGS ROAD
to be improved with 6-inch thick -reinforced concrete pavement on a 6-inch thick lime
stabilized subgrade together with 7-inch high curbs and 2-foot wide gutters so that
the finished street will consist of a forty to forty-four foot roadway and by con-
structing 6-inch thick concrete driveways where specified.

A Neighborhood Hearing was conducted at City Hall in the Council Chambers
by the Engineering Division on February 19, 1968, for the Brennan Avenue Improve-
ments, Project No. 104-24000-170.
The procedures concerning owner participation in the cost of paving, in-
cluding methods and policies of determining assessments and street construction
standards were explained by members of the staff to the three persons in
attendance.
Mr. Scott and Mr. George 'Hollyfield, representing Gulf Oil Corporation
owner of portions of E. 'Little snd"'S X. Smith Surveys, expressed opposition
to the project.
Mr. Frank Bailey, 1518 Brennan, owner of part of Lot 1, Block 1 and Bloch
18, Diamond Hill Addition, also expressed opposition.
