HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 15910 Ordinance No. ~ `~ ' ~~ AN ORDINANCE INCREASING ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE MUNICIPAL GOLF FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000.00 FROM AVAILABLE FUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING A CONTRACT WITH U.S. FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE FOR RESTORATION OF NATIVE GRASSLAND AND RII'ARIAN HABITAT AT ROCKWOOD GOLF COURSE, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES AND REPEALING ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SECTION 1 That in addition to those amounts allocated to the arious City departments for Fiscal Year 2003-2004 in the Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts nd appropriations m the Municipal Golf Fund in the amount of $5,000 00 from available funds for the purpose of funding a contract with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for restoration of native grassland and riparian habitat at Rockwood Golf Course. SECTION 2. That should any portion, section or part of a section of this severability clause be declared invalid, inoperative or id for ny reason by court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, ections, or parts of sections of this rdinance, which id emaining provisions shall be and remain in full force nd effect. SECTION 3 That this rdinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 15636 and all other ordinances and appropnations amending the same except in those nstances where the provisions of this ordinance are direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior rdinances and appropriations hereby xpressly epealed. SECTION 4 This rdinance shall take effect upon adoption. Authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract with the U S Fish and Wildlife Service in an amount not to exceed $5 000 for restoration of native grassland and riparian habitat at Rockwood Golf Course DISCUSSION Work planned for the property covered under this contract will be for the purpose of restoring approximately 15 acres of native grassland habitat, enhancing approximately 30 acres of native grassland and enhancing approximately 0 5 miles (5 acres) of riparian habitat, thus providing improved wetland grassland and riparian habitat for migratory and resident wildlife species at Rockwood Golf Course The U S Fish and Wildlife Service will provide a 50/50 cost share with the City of Fort Worth on this project, help develop a management plan for the area will annually inspect and evaluate the .program, and provide management guidelines as necessary to ensure success of the program The U S Fish and Wildlife contribution to this project is $5~ 000 The City of Fort Worth cost share for this project would be $5 000 in the form of providing trees and educational signage for the project, and completion of all work within one year from the date of the agreement. The Fort Worth Chapter of the Audubon Society the local Chapter of the Master Naturalist program and the Texas Cooperative Extension Service are also working with Rockwood Golf Course to ensure the success of this project, and it is hoped that the area will serve as a model for other golf courses to follow The Parks and Community Services Advisory Board approved this item at their regularly scheduled meeting on February 17 2003 Rockwood Golf Course is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 2.
