CYPRESS STREET AND THE 8000-2899 BLOCKS OF PINE
STREET TO `I.M. TERRELL WAY". MAKING THIS
ORDINANCE CITMULATIVE OF ALL OTHER ORDINANCES
AFFECTING STREET NAMES; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT HEREWTY'H, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COiTNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
WORTH, TEXAS;
SECTION 1
That the name of the streets known as the 1300-1499 Blocks of East 18`h Street to
`LM. Terrell Circle South" the 1300-1499 Blocks of Cypress Street and the 1700-1899
Blocks of Chambers Street to `I.M. Terrell Circle North" the 1800-1999 Blocks of
Cypress Street and the 2000-2299 Blocks of Pine Street to `I.M. Terrell Way" as more
specifically described in Exhibit A attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference,
be and the same is hereby changed to `I.M. Terrell Circle South, `I.M. Terrell Circle
North and `I.M. Terrell Way" respectively
SECTION 8.
That this ordinance shall be cumulative of all other ordinances affecting the
names of streets in the city of Fort Worth except insofar as it may be in conflict with the
provisions of those ordinances, in which instance they are expressly repealed.

That this ordinance shall take effect upon adoption.

SN-04-001 Adoption of an Ordinance Changing the Street Names from East 18th Street, Portions of
Cypress Street, Chambers Street, and Pine Street to I M Terrell Circle South/North and I M Terrell
Way
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached ordinance changing the name of the 1300-1499
blocks of East 18th Street, to 'I M Terrell Circle South the 1300-1499 blocks of Cypress Street and the
1700-1899 blocks of Chambers Street to 'I M Terrell Circle North the 1800-1999 blocks of Cypress Street
and the 2000-2299 blocks of Pine Street to 'I M Terrell Way" all of which circle the I M Terrell School
located in Fort Worth Texas
DISCUSSION
Norma Johnson President of the I M Terrell Former Students Association acting on behalf of said
Association has requested that the above described streets surrounding the I M Terrell High School be
renamed 'to reflect the historical significance of the former and only all-black high school by honoring Mr
I M Terrell for whom the school was named along with his and' former students achievments. There
have been no objections raised by reviewing city departments, and related agencies. Pursuant to State
Statute a public hearing must precede the ordinance adopting the proposed street name change Notice of
this scheduled public hearing was mailed on April 23 2004 to property owners within 300 feet of the subject
street circle A copy of the notice is attached
This request is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT No 8
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION
The Finance Director certifies that this action will have no material effect on City funds and the applicant is
required to pay all costs associated with the new street name signs, unless otherwise waived by City
Council.
